BCA Data Center Operation received ISO27001:2013 certification to increase Information Security at BCA Data Center Operation
Jakarta, 24 August 2016 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) received ISO 27001: 2013 on Information Security Management System for Data Center Operation GSIT (Group Strategic Information Technology). Certification of information security management is a hallmark of BCA’s commitment to continuously improve banking information as well as customer information security, including through improvement of the quality of information technology. ISO 27001: 2013 Certification by SGS Certification Body has been accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). ISO certificate is personally presented by PT SGS Indonesia Managing Director Guy Escarfail to BCA Deputy President Director Armand Wahyudi Hartono, and witnessed by BCA Strategic Information Technology Executive Deputy President Hermawan Thendean at Menara BCA, Wednesday (24/8).
"We consistently take various measures and efforts to improve the capacity and capabilities of our information technology systems to develop more sophisticated distribution network, since transaction services and business needs are constantly evolving and become increasingly complex. One of our efforts is the internationally recognized operating standards certification Information Security Management System ISO 27001: 2013 for the management of IT service provision,” Armand explained.
"The duties and responsibilities of IT service provision management are carried out by the staff of Data Center Operations BCA. These duties and responsibilities are vital, which includes the management of IT-Helpdesk as a troubleshooter for various units, as well as the operational management of three data center and BCA IT Librarian, a data storage computer. Given these vital functions, BCA filed for certification from ISO certification body SGS to assess the implementation of information security management system that has been applied. Since July 15, we have received certification that the operating system management of BCA IT service provision is in accordance to international standards or ISO 27001: 2013,” Armand added.
ISO 27001: 2013 is an international standard for information security management systems. ISO 27001: 2013 establishes requirements and recommendations for the design and assessment of an information security management system. ISO 27001: 2013 is a documented procedure and standard practice for system management, which aims to ensure the security of information in an institution. The practice is especially vital for the banking business, which operates as a business of trust. "Through the implementation of the trusted and internationally recognized ISO 27001: 2013, BCA information security and management system is expected to be more assured," Armand continued.
The implementation of ISO 27001: 2013 is also expected to increase customer confidence and assurance that information security will lead to increased productivity, motivation, morale, and performance of employees. "The certification we are doing should improve information technology governance to support and improve services to various BCA work units. This, of course, will lead to an increase in bank and customer information security in general,” Armand concluded.
