Jazz Gunung Bromo 2016 Begins Today

Purbolinggo, 19 August 2016 - The annual Jazz Gunung Bromo begins today, as PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) commit to participate in the development of creative industry potential by supporting jazz music performances. During the 2-day event, the audience will enjoy a variety of both domestic and international artists, including Scionti Trio (Spain), Samba Sunda, Ring Of Fire Project Ft. Bonita & Richard Hutapea, Ermy Kulit, Shaggy Dog, Nial Djuliarso Trio Ft. Arief Setiadi, Peni Candra Rini, The Groove, and Dwiki Dharmawan Project.

Jazz Gunung Bromo enters its eighth time running at the Amphitheater Soul Java Resort Bromo, Village Wonotoro, District Sukapura, Probolinggo on August 19-20, 2016. BCA Head of the Regional Office VII Malang Djoko Rosmiatun, Jazz Mountain originator Sigit Pramono, Butet Kartaredjasa, Djaduk Ferianto, and Jazz Gunung Bromo performers 2016 were all in attendance. Support for this activity is a reflection of Bakti BCA Solutions Synergy Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

"The creative industry plays an important economic and social role through various media, such as jazz. Jazz Gunung Bromo in 2016 is a collaboration between jazz and Indonesian traditional music, and we believe the event can attract travelers to Bromo to enjoy diverse arts and culture in the country. BCA continues to provide support to Jazz Gunung Bromo as our commitment to introduce the rich culture and travel [opportunities] in Indonesia," Djoko Rosmiatun explained.

Jazz Gunung Bromo is an annual jazz festival was initiated by Sigit Pramono, Butet Kartaredjasa, and Djaduk Ferianto as a token of appreciation for jazz ethnic music Indonesia. The event was held since 2008 to bring a different feel in the world of performing arts of music, as well as to be a means to love natural wisdom mountains Bromo Tengger Semeru, which has become a symbol of native culture archipelago.

In parallel with Indonesia's independence day, Jazz Gunung Bromo this year took the theme of 'Feast of Freedom at the Jazz Mountain Top’, and combined the concepts of musical culture, natural wealth of Indonesia, and spirit of nationalism offered another experience in celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. Jama'ah Al-Jazziah, a term referring to Jazz Gunung Bromo attendees, enjoyed beautiful sounds and natural breezes on location.

4,000 visitors at the 2-day event brought significant positive impact on the development of Probolinggo tourism. Inns and houses were fully booked for the event. The presence of visitors who buy meals, drinks, as well as supplies of warm clothing, helped bolster the local economy.

This year’s Jazz Gunung Bromo had an additional special event, which is an award ceremony honoring Indonesian Jazz figures. Ireng Maulana became the first who accepted the award for the struggle and inspiration given to communities that have helped develop jazz, such as his initiative in hosting JakJazz, musical performances in the 1980s, and encouraged the birth of performances of jazz in Indonesia.
