BCA Endows Rp400 Million Scholarship Fund to Select Accomplished Students of University of Indonesia

Jakarta, 6 September 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues giving its support towards the development of education and improved quality of human resources in Indonesia. This year, BCA gives scholarship to 18 public universities in Indonesia with a total value of Rp5.35 billion to 703 select accomplished students. University of Indonesia is one of the universities receiving the Bakti BCA Scholarship.

Chief of Operating Support of BCA Regional Office VIII Saiman symbolically handed over the Bakti BCA scholarship worth Rp400 million to a student representative of University of Indonesia witnessed by Director of Students Affairs of University of Indonesia Arman Nefi in Jakarta, Friday (06/09).

Saiman said, education is the key to a nation’s progress. As a banking institution that is always by its customers, BCA is committed to support the development of education and improved quality of human resources in Indonesia through the Bakti BCA Scholarship program. “The quality of Indonesian children’s education plays a pivotal role for the future of Indonesia, especially in preparation for the global competition,” added Saiman.

The Bakti BCA Scholarship program itself was developed since 1999 and is intended for accomplished undergraduate students (bachelor degree) who have a demonstrated financial need. It is expected that the scholarships received by the students, including those of University of Indonesia, can help improve their motivation to study and help them finish their education.

Not only the material support that the Bank BCA provided, but it also helps equip the students with the necessary soft skills for higher level education and prior to entering the workforce.

The Bakti BCA Scholarships has entered its 20 years and continue to evaluate the funds it has channeled throughout the years as well as the number of grantees. As of 2019, BCA added the number of public universities receiving its scholarships from 16 to 18 public universities. Meanwhile, the amount of funds allocated also increases yearly. Below is the detail of the allocation of the Bakti BCA Scholarships funds

“BCA’s care on education will go on to achieve quality education for Indonesian children. In addition to scholarships, BCA is also committed to provide, add, and enhance soft skills of students through seminars, training and mentoring programs in order to prepare the Bakti BCA grantees to enter the workforce after they graduate,” Saiman concluded.

In the 2019/2020 period, BCA channeled scholarships to 18 public universities in Indonesia with a total value of Rp5.35 billion.
