GestureCam Innovation for Disabilities Brings BCA 1st Place in AI Driven Bot Competition 2024

Jakarta, 15 November 2024 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), represented by the e-Channel & Settlement Services - Operational & System Support team, won first place in AI Driven Bot Competition 2024. In this national-level competition, the BCA team presented the "GestureCam" innovation. This technology implements artificial intelligence (AI) with facial and gesture recognition, integrated into the Indonesian Smart Robot (ROPI) to facilitate disabilities to interact with the robot.

BCA Operational & System Support team consists of five members from the e-Channel & Settlement Services (CSV) division. Throughout the competition, this team successfully passed all stages, including screening, online and offline trials, implementation, and presentation. Their innovation was judged the best based on the jury's assessment as it was deemed effective in tackling technical challenges and demonstrated strong skills in programming, troubleshooting, and delivering innovative business solutions.

GestureCam is an innovation that utilizes AI to detect sign language through a camera. Equipped with movement and facial recognition capabilities, GestureCam can translate hand gestures into commands understood by the robot and identify user profiles such as gender, age, and expression.

This information is used to adjust the robot’s interactions based on user demographics, providing a more personalized experience. These features are expected to make it easier for people with disabilities to interact with robots. GestureCam opens up new opportunities in various applications, from education to customer service.

AI Driven Bot Competition 2024 is a competition showcasing the implementation of AI in smart robots, organized by the Indonesia AI Society (IAIS) and PT Sari Teknologi Global. Held as part of the AI and Robotic Innovation Expo 2024, this competition included participants from various companies as well as prestigious universities.

This competition focused on the development of AI and technology in robots to support business advancements. It took place throughout October 2024.

BCA’s participation in this competition demonstrates the company’s commitment to continuous innovation and internal capacity building. BCA has implemented automation in several products, such as upgrading Android-based EDC machines or APOS through the implementation of RIA (Robot Inject APOS). This innovation recently earned the Top 3 Global Future Workforce at the Qorus-Infosys Finacle Banking Innovation Award 2024in Portugal at the end of October.

BCA has also automated Flazz card top-ups through TOPAZ (Flazz Top-Up Machine) and introduced Universal UPS Monitoring, which provides real-time information on UPS conditions. All these innovations address increasingly complex operational needs and enhance service quality for customers.
