Two More MSMEs to Go Export, Bringing the Total Export Value of BCA-Assisted MSMEs to Rp37 Billion by the End of 2024

Jakarta, 21 December 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has once again demonstrated its commitment to empowering Indonesian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Most recently, two BCA-assisted MSMEs from Padang and Tulungagung made their first exports, on Thursday (28/11) and Wednesday (18/12).

BCA Assisted MSMEs from Tulungagung focus on natural stone furniture products, and have successfully shipped exports to France and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, MSMEs from Padang produced processed spices, and obtained an export contract to Thailand. These exports are part of the “UMKM BCA Go Export” program, aimed at supporting the government’s initiative to enhance the role of Indonesian MSMEs in the global market.

EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA Hera F. Haryn said, “BCA Assisted MSMEs success in exporting is clear evidence that Indonesian MSMEs have great potential to compete in the international market. More than just exports, this is the first step to introducing Indonesian products to the global stage and opening up new and greater opportunities in the future. BCA is proud to be able to accompany their journey through the UMKM BCA Go Export program, an ecosystem that we have created to support MSMEs to develop and become highly competitive.”

Previously, the “UMKM BCA Go Export” program successfully enabled several other BCA- assisted MSMEs to enter the international market. In total, the potential export value created reached around IDR 37 billion by the end of 2024. Some other commodities that have been successfully exported include cocoa powder and processed chocolates, processed fishes, handicrafts, superior seeds, nuts, and beauty products. Export destinations are Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, Australia, India, the United Arab Emirates, and Papua New Guinea.

“UMKM BCA Go Export” program is part of the 'Bakti BCA' sustainable development program, particularly in the Bakti BCA Village and MSME Empowerment pillars. The program has been held since 2023, and this year BCA is collaborating with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Indonesia. Over the past two years, the total number of MSMEs fostered has reached nearly 120 participants. Meanwhile, the program locations are spread across the largest number of MSME barns in Indonesia, such as West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, East Java, and West Sumatra.

In its implementation, Bakti BCA and ICC Indonesia first conducted a pre-curation through market research and consolidation. This activity aims to identify MSME products that are potentially in demand in the global market, as well as provide information related to export destination countries and potential consumer data. After the pre-curation stage, MSMEs will go through a curation process, a product assessment process based on the business lines match, production capacity, completeness of documents, field verification results, and suitability for global market needs.

Upon completing all stages, MSMEs that successfully pass the curation process are provided with training and support to access international markets.Bakti BCA also invites MSMEs to participate in prestigious promotional events such as Trade Expo Indonesia and BCA UMKM Fest, as well as assisting the transaction process with potential buyers from abroad. By the end of 2024, the “UMKM BCA Go Export” program has recorded 10 multiple increases in business matching on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

“Through various inclusive programs, BCA is committed to supporting the journey of MSMEs to not only survive, but also develop into main players in the global market. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen the BCA Go Export MSME program, including in terms of enhancing the capabilities of business actors, improving the quality of MSME products, and expanding market access. This step is part of our commitment to always encourage MSMEs to become the backbone of a strong and sustainable Indonesian economy in the future,” concluded Hera F. Haryn.
