West Manggarai, 17 October 2024 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) successfully closed the 'Pandai Berhitung dengan Metode GASING (Gampang, Asyik, dan Menyenangkan)' program in Komodo District, Manggarai Barat Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. From 23 September 2024 to 9 October 2024, 32 teachers and 64 students from 25 schools participated in the program, which provided training in numeracy in an easy and enjoyable way. This initiative is part of #BuktiBaktiBCA which supports equal access to quality education in Indonesia.
The 'Pandai Berhitung dengan Metode GASING' closing ceremony was attended by BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn, BCA Corporate Communication SVP Susanti Nurmalawati, Regent of West Manggarai Edistasius Endi, S.E., Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of West Manggarai Hilarius Madin, S.H., and Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Office of West Manggarai Drs. Yohanes Hani, M.Pd.
BCA Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn stated, “Education is the main foundation for creating an accomplished and competent generation. Through the 'Pandai Berhitung dengan Metode GASING' program from Bakti BCA, we strive to establish a mathematics learning environment that is both accessible and engaging. We aspire for this program to inspire students to enhance their learning outcomes while simultaneously fostering the professional development of teachers. Moving forward, we anticipate that teachers will disseminate their knowledge to empower the local community.”
According to Harvard Graduate School of Education research, a fun learning environment plays a key role in student success. Students are found to understand material more easily in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere compared to a stressful environment. The GASING method, first introduced by Prof. Yohanes Surya, Ph.D, offers an innovative approach to making it easier to understand mathematical concepts in a fun way. With the direct involvement of Prof. Yohanes' team, the program equips participants with a strong foundation in basic mathematics, including number recognition, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, employing an interactive methodology.
Upon completing this training, teachers are expected not only to master the GASING method but also to effectively implement and disseminate it within their schools. By sharing the knowledge, skills, and techniques acquired, they will broaden the program’s impact across their educational communities. Furthermore, three qualified teachers will receive advanced coaching to further develop their teaching competencies, positioning them as key resource persons within West Manggarai Regency.
Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Office of West Manggarai Drs. Yohanes Hani, M.Pd, expressed his deep appreciation for BCA and its dedication to supporting equal quality education in Indonesia. “The 'Pandai Berhitung dengan Metode GASING' program not only provides a new learning experience for students but also improves the competency of educators in West Manggarai. We warmly welcome this collaboration with BCA and hope similar initiatives can be applied more broadly across various regions in Indonesia, inspiring more parties to advance the education sector in the country.” said Drs. Yohanes.
