BCA Director Shares Tips for Success in Navigating Globalization with Atma Jaya Yogyakarta Students

Yogyakarta, 21 September 2024 - Over 500 students attended the “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” program organized by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) at Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY) on Friday (20/9). During the event, BCA Director Santoso delivered a public lecture on “Digitalization and Its Impact on Business”.

BCA Berbagi Ilmu reflects BCA’s commitment to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in advancing Quality Education. Through this program, BCA aims to nurture a highly skilled and competitive younger generation, in preparation for the demographic bonus peak in 2030.

BCA Berbagi Ilmu is one of Bakti BCA’s programs in the education sector. The program at Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta continues similar events that have been successfully held at various universities in multiple cities across Indonesia.

BCA Director Santoso stated, “Globalization drives rapid advancements in technology, social shifts, and the business landscape. Staying relevant in these evolving times is crucial to overcoming the challenges that emerge. Therefore, individuals must remain adaptive and perceptive in identifying opportunities. Every change should serve as motivation to keep moving forward, leveraging technology to create innovations that improve the quality of life.”

Through this public lecture, students were encouraged to understand the impact of technology on various aspects of life. Santoso highlighted the critical role of soft skills, such as creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in navigating the fast-paced changes of today’s world. Additionally, Santoso explained the innovations BCA has implemented in response to these changes.

“Technology is indeed becoming smarter, but that doesn’t mean it should cause concern about replacing human roles. Instead, technology functions as a tool to enhance the quality of our performance. At BCA, we believe that innovation and adaptation are the keys to our success. We are confident that technology can be leveraged to provide the best service to our customers and the community. One example is BCA’s transformation, which began by expanding ATM access across Indonesia and eventually launching the BCA Mobile and myBCA apps to keep up with the era of technological advancement,” explained Santoso.

Before Yogyakarta, the BCA Berbagi Ilmu program took place at Petra Christian University in Surabaya on Wednesday (11/9). Vice President Director of BCA Armand W. Hartono delivered a public lecture on “Survival Leadership, Facing Uncertainties”. He shared insights into the challenges students will encounter in the professional world and emphasized the importance of cultivating leadership qualities as a foundation for navigating constant change.

The BCA Berbagi Ilmu 2024 program kicked off on May 3 in Jakarta. The program has also been held at various universities, including BINUS University, Diponegoro University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Sriwijaya University, and Udayana University, with a total of 3,347 students participating.

In addition to public lectures, the BCA Berbagi Ilmu program features Student Banking Tours, inviting high school and university students to explore banking and financial literacy topics through visits to BCA branch offices. The program also includes empowerment initiatives for people with disabilities, such as ‘I'm Capable’ and ‘The Beauty of Disabilities: Makeup Class with BCA’.

In 2023, the BCA Berbagi Ilmu public lecture series was held at five universities and attended by over 3,000 students. Last year’s Student Banking Tour attracted more than 900 students from 18 schools. Additionally, approximately 30 people with disabilities were empowered through skills training, a craft bazaar, and tours of BCA branch offices.

Under the Bakti BCA initiative, the company is dedicated to delivering benefits to individuals and the nation at large, starting from the individual and community levels to the broader ecosystem. BCA believes that empowering individuals enhances the quality of their communities. In turn, an empowered community can make meaningful contributions to ecosystem preservation, fostering a cycle of mutual influence and interconnection.

In addition to BCA Berbagi Ilmu, other Bakti Pendidikan programs include teacher training initiatives in eastern Indonesia, support for the digital economy through the SYNRGY Accelerator & Academy, and the Business and Banking Education Program (PPBP) and the Computer Science Education Program (PPTI). These initiatives also include competency development programs for people with disabilities.
