Continuous Innovation Leads to Achievement: BCA Receives 2 Awards at OPEXCON 2024

Jakarta, 14 December 2024 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) has proudly received two prestigious awards at the Indonesia Operational Excellence (OPEXCON) Award 2024. These accolades reaffirm the company’s commitment to continuous innovation in supporting sustainable banking and delivering exceptional services to its customers.

OPEXCON 2024 is an annual event that encourages Indonesian companies to drive innovation. In its 14th year, the event featured 140 participants who went through a series of activities, including webinars, workshops, and judging phase held from 7-11 October 2024.

This event involves a jury from various fields including academics, experts from the Ministry of Industry, renowned universities, and international consulting firms. There are six main criteria that form the basis of assessment by the jury, which include project selection, methodology, problem analysis, solutions, project scale, and presentation skills.

The highlight of the OPEXCON Award 2024 was held at the Westin Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (21/11). Specifically, BCA earned the Gold Achievement in the Service category for its innovation in Debit and Credit Card Waste Management with the Celsius Concept at BCA and Silver Achievement in the Service category for the End of Program Evaluation Automation with ARVI (Artificial Intelligence and Visualization Tool).

Through innovation with the Celsius Concept, it allows the company to convert plastic waste from expired debit and credit cards or swallowed at ATM machines, into mixed materials for making sandstone or paving blocks. From December 2021 to September 2024, BCA has successfully processed more than 30,000 kg of credit and debit card waste. Meanwhile, the innovation of end-of-program evaluation automation with ARVI (Artificial Intelligence and Visualization Tool) makes it easier for the company to analyze a company training program quickly and efficiently. This technology also allows the company to gain insight from a training program that is being and has been carried out.

The company's innovation in solving various challenges and providing solutions for customers has also received various recognitions in the domestic and global arena. One of them is the improvement of Android-based EDC machines (APOS) through the implementation of RIA (Robot Inject APOS), which won the Top 3 Global Future Workforce award at the Qorus- Infosys Finacle Banking Innovation Award 2024 in Portugal, last October.

Additionally, GestureCam, created by BCA's Operational & System Support team, won first place in the AI Driven Bot Competition 2024. This AI-based technology uses face and gesture recognition to detect sign language through a camera, making it easier for people with disabilities to interact with robots.
