Jazz Mount Bromo is an annual jazz festival initiated by Sigit Pramono, Butet Kartaredjasa, and Djaduk Ferianto. The show is a form of appreciation for Indonesian ethnic jazz music. The event, held since 2008 to bring a different feel in the world of performing arts and music, was also a means to showcase Bromo Tengger Semeru mountainous landscape that has become a symbol of our native culture. In conjunction with Indonesian Independence Day celebration, Mount Bromo Jazz selected the theme ‘Independence Party at the Top of Jazz”. Jazz Mountain incorporated the concept of musical culture, Indonesia’s natural wealth, and the spirit of nationalism to offer another experience to celebrate the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The event was held on 19-20 August 2016, and will present Ian Scionti Trio (Spain), Samba Sunda, Ring Of Fire Project Ft. Bonita & Richard Hutapea, Ermy Kullit, Shaggy Dog, Nial Djuliarso Trio Ft. Arief Setiadi, Peni Candra Rini, The Groove, and Dwiki Dharmawan Project.
The show received enthusiastic reception from the Indonesian public. This is reflected in the rate of hotel room reservations at Tengger. Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (IHRA) Probolinggo noted that hotel room reservations in the Tengger region have reached 50% for the day of the show, while half were already booked for Jazz Mountains audience.
