Jakarta, October 6, 2021 – In committing to improve the quality of education and human resources (HR) in Indonesia, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to strive to contribute in the education sector through Bakti BCA Scholarship. This program is as one of corporate responsibility (CSR) under the umbrella of Bakti BCA that will be distributed to outstanding students in 18 Indonesian State Universities (PTN). Opening the 2021/2022 academic year, BCA holds the scholarship program targeting 840 awardees.
The scholarship opening ceremony for academic year 2021/2022 was opened by President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja, then followed by a symbolic handover by Human Capital Director Lianawaty Suwono together with EVP CSR Inge Setiawati to 18 PTN officials via video conference on Wednesday (10/06). The event was also attended by all representatives of BCA management from various regional offices. Then, the event continued with an inspiring webinar attended by hundreds of students from various universities.
‘’The commitment to improving the quality of education in Indonesia is the responsibility of many parties, including BCA as part of the national banking system. We consistently provide scholarship programs for outstanding students as one of the pillars of the nation's progress. The academic year 2021/2022 will be a special year because we will recruit more outstanding students in Indonesia to enhance their skills and be given various educational trainings through the scholarship programs that Bakti BCA provides," said Jahja.
Bakti BCA Scholarship has been existed since the 1990s and for more than 25 years of its implementation, BCA continues to evaluate so that this program is targeted precisely. The number of awardees and the amount of stipend increases every year. To date, 18 PTN partnered with Bakti BCA scholarship are Padjajaran University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, Diponegoro University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Airlangga University, Hassanudin University, Sam Ratulangi University, Cenderawasih University, Udayana University, Brawijaya University, University of North Sumatra, Sriwijaya University, Andalas University, Bogor Agricultural University, University of Indonesia, Mulawarman University, and Tanjungpura University.
Inge said that the success of this program for decades has been one of the reasons why BCA has never stopped supporting education in Indonesia. ''We believe that the next generation of this nation has a strong passion and determination to learn, therefore it has become our responsibility to support it. Through this program, we will provide more in-depth education regarding soft skills, investment & planning, leadership, team assignments, national webinars and others,''
Bakti BCA Scholarship Program is part of the smart pillar solution under BCA's Corporate Social Responsibility. Every year, BCA is committed to produce qualified young generation that is highly competitive through this scholarship program. For the academic year 2021/2022, it was recorded that the fund to be allocated for Bakti BCA Scholarship is IDR 5.65 billion, excluding development and training activities for one year. This program is also one of BCA's efforts in accelerating the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting awardees to obtain quality education.

Hopefully fellow students can be motivated to increase their enthusiasm and initiative to gain skills and knowledge more optimally as a provision for the future,'' Lianawaty concluded.
