Jakarta, 26 February 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) held various social health activities, namely health checks, blood donations, and free cataract surgeries to celebrate the company's 67th anniversary. This series of events is a form of gratitude and BCA's dedication to consistently contribute to society.
BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja explained, “We realize that health is one of the most important things for society. Good health can support people’s productivity. BCA wants our 67th anniversary to be filled not only with appreciation for customers through promos or discounts but also with direct contributions in the health sector to the community. We organized this activity as a tangible manifestation of the company's commitment to support the improvement of the quality of life and health of the community.”
The free medical check-up was conducted in collaboration with the BCA Bakti Clinic, namely the Praktek Dokter Duri Utara and the Bakti Medika Clinic. This activity was carried out on 20-21 February 2024 and was attended by 304 participants. In this social service, BCA provided free simple laboratory tests to detect hypertension, diabetes, high blood pressure, and uric acid. Patients who were identified as having abnormalities were immediately given medication as the first step in treatment.
BCA also provided free eye examinations and reading glasses to 100 people over the age of 40 at the social service with the Praktek Dokter Duri Utara, West Jakarta, which is located in a densely populated area and near a market. This was to support the community in the vicinity of the clinic who suffer from nearsightedness to make their daily activities easier.
Since 2012, BCA has provided medical services to more than 154,157 patients through BCA- supported clinics and provided nutritional intervention to 1,725 children under five through the PASTI and "Ayo Cegah Stunting" programs.
For the blood donation event, BCA collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross. The company's routine agenda, which entered its 114th edition, was conducted on 22-23 February and was attended by 368 participants. Since 2016 to date, BCA has helped collect 12,470 blood bags and 18 convalescent plasma through blood donation activities.
BCA will also conduct a free cataract surgery program at the Regional Public Hospital dr. Salim Alkatiri Namrole, South Buru, Maluku, in early March. The cataract surgery is conducted to reduce the rate of blindness due to the disease in Indonesia.
Since 2001, BCA together with the Cataract Blindness Management Division of the Indonesian Ophthalmologist Association (SPBK PERDAMI) and the Kick Andy Foundation (in 2017-2019), has organized cataract surgery activities on a regular basis with a total of 8,131 patients participating. During 2023, more than 1,000 patients participated in cataract surgery at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Jakarta; Puruk Cahu, Central Kalimantan; Batam, Riau Islands; Tual City, Southeast Maluku; Margaasih, Bandung; West Coast, Lampung; Manokwari, West Papua; and Waingapu, East Nusa Tenggara.
Moving forward, BCA committed to continue and expand Cataract Surgery Social Service across every region in Indonesia. Not only conducting free cataract surgeries, BCA is also proactive providing surgical equipments for PERDAMI to decrease the number of people with the disease. Until 2023, BCA has donated 30 surgical equipments valued at more than Rp 3.7 Billion for PERDAMI.
