BCA Berbagi Ilmu at ITB: BCA Deputy President Director Shares Tips to the Working World and How Technology Can Help

Bandung, 15 May 2024 - The “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” program continues its activities in several cities including Bandung. In collaboration with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), BCA Deputy President Director Hendra Lembong presents a public lecture titled “Tips to the Working World and How Technology Can Help”. On this occasion, over 500 ITB students participated in the public lecture held at the West Hall of ITB, on Wednesday (15/5).

“BCA Berbagi Ilmu” is a form of BCA's commitment to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Quality Education and prepare a qualified and competitive young generation to face the peak of the demographic bonus in 2030. This program is one of Bakti BCA's flagship programs in the Bakti Pendidikan pillar.

BCA Deputy President Director Hendra Lembong said, “The existence of technology opens both opportunities and challenges for us. By optimizing technology, daily activities such as working become more productive and easier, but on the other hand, it can pose severe challenges, one of which is fraud. So, students need to adapt to technological developments to be at the forefront of fierce competition while avoiding potential risks from using technology.”

As we all know, the technological development trend continues to grow, disrupting various sectors, including banking. In this public lecture, Hendra Lembong shared how BCA can grow in synergy with technology.

“At BCA, we believe that innovation and adaptation are the keys to survival. Since BCA establishment in 1957, we have continuously strived to adapt to evolving trends through customer-oriented technology, especially to project future customer needs. Starting from expanding ATM access throughout Indonesia to upholding the concept of banking from anywhere with the launch of BCA Mobile and MyBCA applications,” said Hendra.

The “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” program was held to commemorate National Education Day, holding public lectures at 5 universities, namely Bina Nusantara University, Diponegoro University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Sriwijaya University, and Udayana University. In addition, the “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” program will present Student Banking Tour activities inviting several high school and university students to learn about banking and financial literacy while visiting BCA branch offices. There are also empowerment activities for people with disabilities.

In 2023, the “BCA Berbagi Ilmu” public lecture series was held at 5 universities in Indonesia and attended by more than 3,000 students. Meanwhile, in attendance for the Student Banking Tour were more than 900 students from 18 schools. Finally, for people with disabilities, around 30 people were empowered through skills provision, work bazaars, and tours to BCA branch offices.

BCA Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility EVP Hera F. Haryn said, “BCA Berbagi Ilmu under Bakti BCA is a form of our support for the younger generation to become superior human resources and contribute to the Indonesian economy. Moreover, according to BPS, Indonesia is expected to enter a demographic bonus period with a peak period until 2030, indicated by the number of productive age population that reaches twice the number of children and elderly. We believe that the best investment for this young generation is education, therefore Bakti BCA is committed to continue facilitating them with various forms of support.”

In addition to giving public lectures to students, BCA also inaugurated the renovation of the student canteen at ITB Jatinangor and placed two Bakti BCA Plastic Bottle Recycling Machines in the campus area. The placement of this machine is expected to encourage changes in waste-sorting behavior among students. Interestingly, every plastic bottle waste redemption will get points that can be converted into rupiah. All plastic bottle waste collected will be recycled into eco-friendly fibers, as a base material for environmentally friendly products.

Under “Bakti BCA”, the Company is committed to providing benefits on an individual, community, and ecosystem scale. BCA believes that empowered individuals can empower their communities, and empowered communities can positively contribute to preserving the ecosystem, thus creating a mutually influential and interrelated cycle.

To emphasize this commitment, BCA launched the #BuktiBaktiBCA campaign, which captures all of BCA's Bakti activities in collaboration with various stakeholders to support sustainable development in Indonesia. BCA's Bakti programs cover education (Bakti Pendidikan), health (Bakti Kesehatan), community empowerment (Desa Bakti BCA), culture (Bakti Budaya), and the environment (Bakti Lingkungan).

In addition to “BCA Berbagi Ilmu”, other Bakti Pendidikan programs include teacher training in Eastern Indonesia, support for the digital economy in the form of SYNRGY Accelerator & Academy, Business and Banking Education Program (PPBP) and Informatics Engineering Education Program (PPTI), and competency development for people with disabilities. Most recently, the company officially opened the Bakti BCA 2024 Scholarship program attended by 700 students from 20 universities in Indonesia.
