Tawangmangu, 6 February 2024 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) reaffirmed its commitment to continuing value and benefits creation for the community through the Desa Bakti BCA program. To improve program implementation, BCA organized a coordination meeting with all village administrators of Desa Bakti BCA on 5-6 February 2024. This event serves as an annual routine activity for BCA and all Desa Bakti BCA administrators to assess the outcomes of assistance provided in 2023 and to plan for assistance in 2024.
This year, BCA aims for Desa Bakti BCA community to achieve greater independence by focusing on skills development and economic advancement. Additionally, BCA is committed to enhancing Sustainable Tourism Village Governance practices, which encompass responsible governance, sustainable creative economy, and socio-cultural preservation, all to protect the archipelago’s culture.
BCA not only conducted coordination meetings but also facilitated discussions and benchmarking sessions. Within this forum, village administrators had the chance to deepen their expertise and skills through direct interaction with expert consultants. These consultants also played a role in the capacity development of the winning village in the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia competition.
Desa Bakti BCA administrators had the opportunity to learn from examples of sustainable tourism practices, which are crucial assets in developing excellent human resources for tourism villages. They also had the chance to benchmark against best practices in similar industries. The event was attended by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) and various notable figures, primarily focusing on discussing the governance of sustainable tourism practices.
BCA EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn explained, “We understand that the tourism sector is an important pillar in economic development, capable of driving regional development and expanding job opportunities. BCA believes that improving infrastructure and nurturing human capital are essential for achieving this goal. As part of our commitment to sustainable development, we prioritize community engagement, especially in utilizing the potential of community-based tourism in Desa Bakti BCA. Through these efforts, BCA aims to maintain its positive impact on society.”
Currently, BCA provides intensive assistance to 26 villages across Sumatra, Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Nusa Tenggara. Among these, 12 villages are the product of collaboration between BCA and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf). Several of these Desa Bakti BCA villages have received national and international awards. Most notably, Taro Tourism Village and Bilebante Green Tourism Village were honored with the Best Tourism Village award in the Update Programme category by the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) in 2023.
