Jakarta, December 18, 2023 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) held a Halal Certificate Workshop for MSMEs fostered by BCA in the Jabodetabek area for the second time. Through this workshop, MSMEs will receive training related to self-declared halal certification registration, with the aim that MSMEs can be independent in obtaining halal certification for their products. The "Self-Declare Halal Certificate Registration Training for BCA-Fostered MSMEs in Jabodetabek Volume II" took place at Menara BCA and was attended by 60 MSMEs from Jabodetabek.
Vice President of BCA's Commercial and SME Division Suryawati Widjaja said, "Seeing the high demand for halal-certified products, BCA once again holds a halal certification training program for MSMEs so that they can easily improve the quality of their merchandise. BCA is certainly committed to supporting the development of MSME businesses, and through this halal certification workshop, we hope to help MSMEs become more independent in improving the quality of their products and stimulating their sales growth."
In addition to facilitating halal certificates issued for MSMEs, BCA also facilitated the issuance of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) for MSMEs participating in this event. The issuance of NIB for MSMEs was carried out online with the assistance of the Garda Transfumi Team before the training took place. This is done in order for BCA to encourage MSME players to have complete legal documents so that they can gain more access to develop their business.
BCA has consistently organized training activities to obtain halal certificates and NIBs for MSMEs. This year, BCA has committed to providing similar assistance to MSMEs in DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), West Sumatra, South Sulawesi, and other provinces with halal product needs.
Empowering MSMEs continues to be a key focus for BCA. Data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs shows that the average turnover of businesses increased by 8.5% after obtaining a halal certificate. In line with this, BCA seeks to accelerate halal certification for 1,000 MSMEs by the end of 2023, in accordance with a commitment with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs.
As of September 30, 2023, BCA has disbursed loans to MSMEs worth Rp104.8 trillion with a growth of 16.4% YoY. BCA's commitment to supporting MSMEs to become champions in the country is also reflected in the organization of BCA UMKM Fest 2023, which was held offline at Gandaria City, Jakarta, on August 9-13 and online on August 12-September 13, 2023, and successfully reached 1,400 MSME participants.
BCA SVP Business Commercial & SME Tjoeng Haryanto hopes that the halal certification facility provided can have a positive impact on the quality of MSME products. "Halal certification is an important requirement for businesses in this country, considering that Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world. We hope this initiative can be a big step in supporting the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia, including MSMEs in Jabodetabek," said Tjoeng.
As information, the Ministry of Finance said that the halal economy can lift Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by USD 5.1 billion per year through exports and investment considering that there are 230 million Muslim residents in the country. The global halal economy itself is expected to reach 4.96 trillion USD by 2030.
Support Business Growth of Jabodetabek MSMEs with Halal Certificates - In an effort to increase business growth of MSMEs, BCA invited 60 Jabodetabek MSMEs to take part in training on self-declare halal certification registration and provide free Halal certificates on Monday (4/12) at Menara BCA. The training and provision of halal certificates are believed to help improve the competitiveness of MSME products given the high potential of the halal economy in Indonesia. This step is also a form of BCA's commitment to increasing the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia and encouraging MSMEs to be independent in registering halal certificates for their products.
