Makassar, May 25th 2023 - BCA Berbagi Ilmu program extended its outreach to the city of Makassar by conducting a public lecture at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS). Under the theme "Resilience in The Era of Uncertainty," the Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) Antonius Widodo, graced the event as a speaker in front of nearly 600 UNHAS students.
The public lecture held at UNHAS signifies the culmination of a series of public lectures hosted at various state universities under the BCA Berbagi Ilmu Program. The kick-off of BCA Berbagi Ilmu program coincided with National Education Day on 2nd May 2023, simultaneously with the public lecture held at the University of Indonesia. Subsequently, public lectures were organized at the University of North Sumatra, Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, and concluded at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS). Esteemed members of BCA's Board of Directors took the stage as speakers during the BCA Berbagi Ilmu public lecture sessions, addressing various subjects such as financial literacy, leadership, and digitalization.
Present at the public lecture held at UNHAS were BCA Director Antonius Widodo, UNHAS Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., BCA Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility Hera F. Haryn, and BCA Regional Office IV Head Tan Widy Tarmizi.
During the public lecture, Antonius Widodo elaborated on the importance of developing a resilient mindset to navigate uncertainties of the current era, a resilient mindset is necessary to embrace the forthcoming waves of change. If we consider BCA as an illustration, BCA continuously adjusts to digitalization trends, primarily to address the demands and behaviors of its customers. "Digital activities have become ingrained in our daily routines, and this is evident from the transactions captured by BCA. Almost 99.7% of transactions are carried out digitally, with 91% occurring through mobile banking and internet banking, and 8.7% through ATMs and EDC. This indicates that nearly all transactions are now conducted digitally. Only 0.3% of transactions are recorded through physical branch offices," Antonius Widodo implied.
On the other hand, BCA continues to adapt by integrating technology and human touch to support the needs of its customers, continually generating digital innovations and opening branch services. Antonius Widodo revealed, "BCA never stops opening branch services. Recently, we opened branches in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, and previously in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara. We recognize that transactions are now heading towards digital, but we also understand that service offices and digital platforms complement each other. We acknowledge that some customers also still value human interaction."
Fueled by the spirit of #GenerasiPastiBisa, the BCA Berbagi Ilmu program is a tangible manifestation of BCA's commitment to supporting Indonesia in pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BCA Berbagi Ilmu also has a mission to realize education equality and financial literacy among the young generation who will be in the peak of the Demographic Bonus in the upcoming year of 2030.
The BCA Berbagi Ilmu program will also organize the "Student Banking Tour" activity, which will invite students to explore banking subjects while visiting BCA branch offices. Moreover, an event called "I'm Capable" has been organized with the aim of promoting inclusive and disability-friendly education in the field of finance and providing training for individuals with disabilities.
EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility BCA Hera F. Haryn added, BCA Berbagi Ilmu was specifically crafted by us to support inclusive education for the advancement of excellent human resources in Indonesia. BCA firmly believes that education and self-development are the most valuable investments for the younger generation. Therefore, BCA remains committed in continuously supporting them to become the #GenerasiPastiBisa in the future.”
