Jakarta, 16 February 2023 - BCA remains committed to making a tangible contribution to society. As part of its ongoing commitment, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) headquarters arranged the 110th Blood Donation Activity, the first one held since the pandemic hiatus. This event is part of BCA's series of social initiatives and a gesture of gratitude to mark BCA's 66th anniversary.
The Bakti BCA’s blood donation has been regularly held by BCA since 1991. Hera F. Haryn, EVP Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility of BCA, stated, "We are delighted that we can now resume the blood donation event after a three-year break due to the pandemic, while still adhering to the Covid-19 Task Force's health protocols. The blood donation is a customary event that we hold four times a year and often involves BCA employees and the wider community. This blood donation activity embodies BCA's contribution to society, reflecting positive values that can be felt by all."
In cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of DKI Jakarta and the support of BCA’s employees, BCA is striving to collect 400 blood bags in 2023. Since 1991, BCA has been collaborating with PMI, and to enhance their partnership BCA has made various donations, such as an operational vehicle unit in 2017, total of ten blood scale and mixer units in 2018 and 2019, and a mobile blood donor unit in 2021.
The blood donation activity had to be halted during the pandemic, but in 2022, several BCA branch offices were able to carry out the KDD and donated 273 bags of blood to PMI. In total, BCA has contributed 9,965 bags of blood. BCA continues to make positive contributions to society by distributing the blood bags obtained from KDD to various health institutions. Since 2015, BCA has provided subsidies for the Bakti Medika Clinic and has helped 1,886 patients. BCA has also provided subsidies for the Duri Utara Doctor Practice since 2012, which has helped 20,485 patients. In addition to providing assistance to health institutions, BCA also provides education related to healthy eating and self-care to 17 schools, which covers 3,197 students.
BCA's consistency in organizing the Bakti BCA Blood Donation has successfully led the company to break the MURI Record as "The First National Private Bank to Conduct 100 Blood Donation Activities" in 2017. "It is our wish that BCA will uphold its dedication and steadiness in organizing blood donations in the future, as this is a crucial undertaking that offers significant advantages to numerous parties, including both the individuals donating blood and those receiving it," Hera concluded.
