Jakarta, 11 November 2021 - SYNRGY Accelerator Batch 4 program which was held by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk has been concluded, marked by the end of Virtual Demo Day which was viewed by more than 900 participants.
Demo Day started with a greeting from Hendra Lembong (Director of IT BCA) who were represented by Adi Prasetyo (Senior VP of Digital Innovation Solution of BCA) and Faye Wongso (Co-Founder & CEO of KUMPUL). The event then continued with a Talkshow called "Financial Digital Solution" with Adi Prasetyo (Senior VP of Digital Innovation Solution of BCA) and Melisa Hendrawati (Chief Financial Officer of OY! Indonesia) moderated by Amalia Aininnur (VP Ecosystem of KUMPUL). It was then followed by startup pitching and Q&A sessions with the panel of experts which included Deandra Fidelia (Investment Analyst of Central Capital Ventura), Dina Dellyana (Director of Thegreathub Business Incubator of SMB ITB) and Hanny Cecilia (Channel Director of Huawei Cloud Indonesia).
During Demo Day, participants were able to visit startup Visual Booth which presented the details of all startup involved in SYNRGY Accelerator Program Batch 4 and other activities.
At the beginning of the program, there were 230+ registrant startups, 100 of which passed the selection to join the 3 days online bootcamp program. From those 100 startups, around 40 of them were selected as Top 40 Startups of BCA SYNRGY Accelerator Program Batch 4, in which they participated in intense 3 months program that includes mentoring, workshop, community event, and networking session between startup and corporation, as well as sharing session with experts in order to gain an opportunity in capital investment, collaboration, and exposure.
Since 2019, BCA SYNRGY Accelerator consistently supports and encourages the growth of startup ecosystem in Indonesia. In collaboration with KUMPUL in organizing the BCA SYNRGY Accelerator Batch 4 program as a collaborative platform for startup community, this program is expected to be one of the actualization of BCA’s commitment, whose vision is to develop the local startup ecosystem so it may expand and becoming an economic engine for Indonesia.
“Looking at the enthusiasm and fighting spirit shown by the youngsters in providing technology-based solution to solve may issues currently plaguing the public, BCA is motivated to organize this program so that participants not only be able to expand in national level, but also in international stage. Additionally, the growth of startup in Indonesia will also affect the growth of digital economy,” said the Senior VP of Digital Innovation Solution of BCA Adi Prasetyo.
In this BCA SYNRGY Accelerator Batch 4 program, BCA and KUMPUL expanded their reach to startups in various tier-2 and tier-3 cities from all over Indonesia, and taught startups from different backgrounds. In general, the chosen startups were based in Java, Sumatera, and Bali. Most of them came from Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and followed by Tangerang, Bandung, Surabaya, and Batam. Selected startups have successfully passed the document screening based on general criteria, such as its status as legal entity, having product that is live and traction. Additionally, selected startups must pass the interview and pitching process during online bootcamp.
At the same time, Amalia Aininnur as the VP of Ecosystem of KUMPUL also stated that, “Out of 40 startups chosen, almost a third of them came from Edutech vertical, followed by SaaS (Software as Service), Healthtech, Marketplace, Tourism, AI & IoT, HR, Sustainability, and Fintech & Fintech Enabler. This vertical variation comes from changes in public’s need after pandemic. It is hoped that the training and opportunity provided in BCA SYNRGY will open new opportunities which could accelerate the growth of each startup.”
In order to reach to more startups in Indonesia, KUMPUL cooperates with local partners in five cities, such as Tiang Space Lombok, Sherpa Ecosystem Makassar, Bandung Technopark, Ruang Kreasi Batam, and Innovative Academy Yogyakarta to ensure the success of this program.
In addition to providing knowledge and skill which have been adjusted with current needs, BCA will also embrace and educate the participating startups that have passed the BCA SYNRGY Accelerator program in hope that it would result in long-term relation to collaborate and expand together.
