Jakarta, September 3, 2021 – Indonesia consists of thousands of islands and thousands of tribes that hold a lot of tourism potentials that can be explored further. Seeing these potentials, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) through its corporate social responsibility program has developed a pillar of superior business solutions that has a tourism village program. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, to encourage tourism villages to keep passionate and innovate, BCA organizes the 2021 BCA Desa Wisata Award, which is currently entering its final stages.
The series of activities for the 2021 BCA Desa Wisata Award have begun since April. During that time, the participants received various trainings and passed through the series of selection. Today (03/09), an award ceremony was held for the tourism village which was declared as the winner in this competition. It was attended by BCA Commissioner Cyrillus Harinowo, BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja, BCA Vice President Director Armand Hartono, Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, BCA EVP of CSR Inge Setiawati, Observers & Experts, Deputy for Destination & Infrastructure Development in 2020-2021 Hari Sungkari, Director of Destination Governance & Sustainable Tourism from Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Indra Ni Tua and Head of Masters Program in Sustainable Tourism, Padjadjaran University Dr. Evi Novianti, M.Si.
“2021 BCA Desa Wisata Award provides opportunities for tourism villages to promote their potential wealth. In the midst of this condition, it is very important to synergize with various elements to create a competitive investment attraction for a better economic recovery. It is an honor for BCA to see high enthusiasm of all tourism village administrators in multiple regions in Indonesia," said Jahja Setiaatmadja.
This competition has been participated by more than 465 tourism villages throughout Indonesia, which have finally been selected to 20 finalists that pass the judging stage. In its implementation, the 2021 BCA Desa Wisata Award ran a competition into four categories, i.e. Tourism Villages in the Nature Category, Tourism Villages in the Cultural Category, Tourism Villages in the Creative Category and Tourism Villages in the Digital Category. Starting from the selection stage to the judging stage, all finalists have received various trainings such as Communication and Leadership, Photo Techniques Using Smart Phones, Social Media Branding, Indonesian Tourism Development, The Future of Tourism Villages, Presentation Techniques and Excellent Services 4.0.
In this joyous occasion, BCA announced 3 Tourism Villages as the winners in the Nature Category, 3 Tourism Villages as the winners in the Cultural Category, 3 Tourism Villages as the winners in the Creative Category and 1 Favorite Tourism Village in the Digital Category.
BCA EVP of CSR Inge Setiawati said “We are proud to see all the enthusiasm from the finalists to create innovations and participate in this entire series of competitions. Despite the limitations and challenges, I believe that this will not stop the finalists to fight for the winner titles.”
As additional information, BCA through the Bakti Komunitas (Community Service) program and Solusi Bisnis Unggul (Excellent Business Solution) pillar supports the sustainability of tourism in Indonesia. Mentoring continues to be provided for 12 foster villages and various trainings provided by BCA include digital branding training, tour guide training, homestay standardization training, benchmarking and development of tour packages. To support this event, BCA has prepared a total of 600 million prizes along with mentoring for the winners of this competition.
"Hopefully this award can be a good start for all tourism villages in Indonesia to explore the potentials of their villages. We definitely hope that such positive activities can inspire many people and help economic recovery in Indonesia, especially for the tourism sector," concluded Inge.
