Jakarta, 15 April 2021 – Strengthening its commitment to Always Stand by Your Side, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) holds BCA UMKM Fest, a virtual festival and exhibition followed by thousands of MSME businesses with more than 18.000 signature products. BCA UMKM Fest will be held from 16 April until 8 May 2021 on umkmfest.bca.co.id webpage.
A virtual press conference was held to open the series of the BCA UMKM Fest, attended by President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja, Director of BCA Santoso, EVP of Commercial & SMEs of BCA and Committee Chair of the BCA UMKM Fest Freddy Iman, and EVP of Secretariat & Corporate Communication of BCA Hera F. Haryn who acted as moderator on Thursday (15/04). Also attending was Coordinating Minister Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners Wimboh Santoso, and member of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Indah Kurnia.
“As the people’s bank, BCA is committed to provide value added and to have competitive advantage in the current market needs for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as one of the drivers of the national economy. Starting Friday (16/4), for the next three weeks, we will provide an end-to-end work space for MSME businesses through the BCA UMKM Fest. Furthermore, BCA also provides assistance through various webinars, mentorship, and business matching sessions that create market access opportunities for export. It is our earnest hope that MSME products are not only available to domestic market – with the largest population in Southeast Asia and the fourth largest in the world, but also penetrate international market,” said Jahja.
For Business Matching, BCA works alongside with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, the International Trade Promotion Center, and Correspondent Banks to present potential buyers from 30 countries. Currently, export ready MSME businesses will join a session, in which a business meeting and discussion is to be held with 80 BCA export ready sellers. Not only that, in the webinar ‘Export Ready MSME’, participants will receive education and training from expert speakers on how to become a leading exporter.
In addition to providing value-added to MSMEs, visitors can explore more than 18,000 signature products from 1,700 merchants; 7,500 of which are food & beverage products, 5,800 fashion products, 1,500 hobby products, 1,300 health & beauty products, 400 accessories & jewelleries, and many other attractive products. Besides, customers will also be pampered with discounts, auctions, and postage subsidies.
MSMEs play a crucial role in Indonesia’s economy and account for the absorption of a very large workforce. Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, as of 2018, MSMEs was able to absorb a workforce of 116.97 million people or 98% of the total working population in Indonesia. Meanwhile, MSMEs contributed 61.07% of GDP. BCA’s commitment to developing MSMEs to grow and become more competitive is in accord with the acceleration of the Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs realization in Indonesia.
“BCA fully supports the role of MSMEs in bolstering the Indonesian economy. Due to current limited mobility, we present the virtual BCA UMKM Fest, a tangible gesture in the pursuit of evoking motivation and optimism among MSME businesses in Indonesia as well as accelerating SDGs realization,” Jahja concluded.
