BCA and Its Employees Distribute Donation for Palu

Palu, 14 October 2020 – The earthquake that rattled Palu in 2018 caused tremendous damage, where homes and school buildings had been flattened. As an integral part of the society, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) and the employees of BCA are committed to helping ease the burden of the earthquake victims by providing assistance. Donations were submitted in stages to meet the emergency basic needs of the locals as well as to help procure and repair several schools in Palu.

The fundraiser initiated by the employees of BCA raised Rp400 million. The donation was symbolically handed over by the Executive Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility of BCA Inge Setiawati accompanied by Head of Regional Office IV Makassar Hendrik Sia, Executive Vice President of Human Capital Management of BCA Hendra Tanumihardja and Head of KCU BCA Palu Rony Owen Dinata on a video conference on Wednesday (14/10) to the Head of the Foundation who is also the Principal of the Anatapura Lolu Kindergaten, Nirwaty Sukarno Palemba. The donation was not only for the reconstruction of the damaged school building, but also to help purchase teaching and learning equipment in several schools, namely TK Kartika XXI-18; TK Kartika XXI-19; PAUD Kartika KODIM 1306/DGL; TK Negeri Satu Atap Petobo.

“Education is what the quality future generations build upon. For that, the infrastructure must be secure. The earthquake that destroyed the TK Anatapura Lolu in Palu that also resulted in property damages in other schools has encouraged BCA and its employees – in the spirit of One BCA – to help rebuild suitable educational facilities,” explained Hendrik.

“It proves BCA’s dedication to education, which is one of the three main pillars of Bakti BCA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. For information, the three main pillars of the Bakti BCA’s CSR consist of the Smart Solution pillar that focuses on supporting education; the Synergy Solution pillar that focuses on culture, healthy, environment and empathy in Indonesia; and Superior Business Solution pillar that provides guidance for the community and villages,” explained Inge.

"Everyone has the right to education. Through the donation that we channel today, BCA hopes to support the younger generation to get an education for their future. It is not easy to recover and stand fast after a disaster. But we believe that by supporting each other we help foster a spirit of better Palu,” Hendra concluded.

With the spirit of One BCA, BCA and the employees donated more than Rp400 million to help ease the burden of the earthquake victims in Palu. In addition to fulfilling the basic emergency needs, the donations were also used to help procure and repair several school infrastructure in Palu, namely TK Anatapura Lolu; TK Kartika XXI-18; TK Kartika XXI-19; PAUD Kartika KODIM 1306/DGL; and TK Negeri Satu Atap Petobo.
