BCA Distributes Bakti BCA Scholarships 790 Indonesian Students

Jakarta, 12 October 2020 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is always committed to supporting the improvement of the quality of human resources for the advancement of quality education in Indonesia. BCA implemented its commitment through the provision of the Bakti BCA scholarships to select accomplished students in 18 State Universities (PTN). This year, the Bakti BCA scholarships worth Rp5.45 billion were awarded to 790 Indonesian students.

The scholarship was symbolically handed over by the President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja accompanied by Director of BCA Lianawaty Suwono to the 18 PTN authorities through a video conference on Monday (12/10). Also attending the event was Executive Vice President of the Human Capital Management of BCA Hendra Tanumihardja and Executive Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility of BCA Inge Setiawati. The ceremony was followed by a seminar, which was attended by 790 enthused Bakti BCA scholarship grantees academic year 2020-2021.

“BCA believes that education plays an important role in improving the quality of human resources and the progress of the country. Therefore, BCA consistently distributes the Bakti BCA scholarships to students who have a demonstrated financial need. BCA also provides a series of training, seminar and public lectures for students, such as self-development, leadership, financial planning & investment, etc. It is hoped to help improve their abilities, enthusiasm, and motivation to prepare them to face the working world,” explained Jahja.

The Bakti BCA scholarships itself was developed since 1999. For 21 years, BCA continues to make evaluation to ensure that the program is appropriate. As of today, the 18 beneficiaries of the Bakti BCA scholarships program are Padjadjaran University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, Diponegoro University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Airlangga University, Hassanudin University, Sam Ratulangi University, Cenderawasih University, Udayana University, Brawijaya University, Sumatera Utara University, Sriwijaya University, Andalas University, Bogor Institute of Agriculture, University of Indonesia, Mulawarman University, and Tanjungpura University.

“Students are the spearhead of change towards better Indonesia. BCA hopes that both material and non-material assistance it provided can be put to good use by the students as the nation’s future generations. Hopefully, students will be more empowered to increase their initiatives in acquiring knowledge and experience as they offer an assurance of the future,” Jahja concluded.
