Jakarta, 30 March 2020 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA)’s commitment to help various covid-19 countermeasures was demonstrated through the distribution of Bakti BCA Donation to various parties. As ventilators are in high demand and according to the information received from hospitals, BCA donated 4 ventilator units worth Rp2.7bn to Rumah Sakit Pusat Angkatan Darat (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto.
The donation was handed over symbolically via video conference, which took place on Monday (30/3) dan was attended by President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja and Deputy Head of RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Brigadier General TNI dr. A. Budi Sulistya. Sp.THT-KL., M.A.R.S,.
President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja said that the Bakti BCA donation – the ventilators, is BCA’s effort to assist with the Covid-19 pandemic. “Today, through video conference, we symbolically handed over a donation in the form of four ventilator units to RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. This donation, of course, serves as a manifestation of our sincerity in helping the government’s efforts to heal patients with Covid-19,” ujar Jahja.
Deputy Head of RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Brigadier General TNI dr. A. Budi Sulistya. Sp.THT-KL., M.A.R.S, expressed his gratitude for the donation that BCA provided. “We are grateful and thankful that amidst the crisis, various parties, including BCA, are trying to help us in treating patients with Covid-19. We will use the ventilators as a breathing aid for patients,” explained Budi.
Ventilators can be lifesaving for some critically ill Covid-19 patients. According to a journal titled Clinical Characteristics of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in China, more than 5% of Covid‑19 patients was admitted to the ICU and more than half of them was placed on a ventilator due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
“We certainly hope that these ventilators can help accelerate the treatment and recovery of Covid-19 patients. Furthermore, we pray that this pandemic will soon pass, and break the chain of the spread of coronavirus through various policies including social & physical distancing, work from home – which BCA has implemented, and many more,” Jahja concluded.
