Surabaya,12 May 2020 – As part of the national banking sector, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to continuously contribute in the alleviation and prevention of the spread of the Covid-19.
After donating to several referral hospitals/health facilities, the government and various other independent institutions/organizations not too long ago, with a total donation value more than Rp13 billion. Now, as a form of empathy and solidarity especially to those who have been financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic, the employees of BCA & Bakti BCA initiated an internal fundraiser, collected from April-May, managed to raise a donation fund of Rp1 billion.
The donation was symbolically submitted by the Head of BCA Regional Office III Frengky Chandra to the administrator of Masjid Mubarok Keputran Surabaya Rofiq in Surabaya, Tuesday (12/05).
“The staple food packages that we distribute today are from a fundraiser initiated by BCA employees from all across Indonesia with the Bakti BCA. As one of the financial institutions in Indonesia, BCA is determined to continue the fight alongside the government, medical professionals, and the public in facing the Covid-19 pandemic. It is important to help each other in difficult times like this,” said Frengky.
The initiative raised Rp1 billion which will be converted into 10,000 food staple packages, containing basic foods such as rice, instant noodles, soy sauce, cooking oil, canned corned beef, canned sardines, and also personal hygiene essentials such as soap and cloth face masks.
All of the items are then put together in a goodie bag that also includes educational infographics on coronavirus preventive measures. These goodie bags will be distributed in stages to 12 BCA regional offices all across Indonesia, including KCU Aceh and KCU Jayapura, taking into account various aspects of health protocols established by the government and WHO.
“We hope that the distribution of these staple food packages can help reduce the burden on the people who have been financially affected by Covid-19. BCA strives to evenly distribute the donations throughout the nation. We believe that the small steps that we carried out to fight against Covid-19 can have a major impact on the acceleration of the recovery in Indonesia,” Frengky concluded.
