Jakarta, June 28 2023 – By maintaining consistent financial performance growth, upholding good governance practices, and cultivating a solid sustainable financing portfolio, BCA has reaffirmed its position as a recipient of prestigious recognition at both national and international levels. The Asian Banker has honored BCA with dual accolades at The Asian Banker Leadership Achievement Awards 2023, recognizing them as both the CEO of the Year in Asia Pacific and the Bank of the Year in Asia Pacific for 2023.
The awards ceremony in Bangkok was attended by President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja and Director of BCA Frengky Chandra Kusuma on Tuesday (13/6). The evaluation for this award involved a meticulous and transparent assessment conducted by The Asian Banker, which focused on four main criteria: business financial performance, successful resolution of challenges, effective communication of strategic business plans, and the team's strength and dedication in working towards a shared vision.
The Asian Banker highlights BCA's performance growth with a solid financial position. By the end of 2022, BCA reported a return on equity (RoE) of 24.7% and a return on assets (RoA) of 3.7%. Additionally, BCA demonstrated efficient operations, as evidenced by an improved cost-to-income ratio (CIR) of 32.5%. The credit risk was effectively managed, maintaining a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 1.8%. Moreover, the net profit experienced a remarkable annual growth of 29.6%, reaching a total of US$2.9 billion.
“The current challenging circumstances serve as a trial for BCA's business model resilience. With a proven business model, we are able to consistently deliver strong financial performance. BCA has dedicated its efforts to optimizing various business opportunities while adopting a prudent approach. We are actively promoting credit disbursement to support Indonesia's economic recovery," said Jahja Setiaatmadja.
In line with its consistent performance growth, BCA's market capitalization has experienced a compound annual rate of over 44% over the past two years, reaching $79.8 billion by the end of April 2023. BCA's market capitalization establishes it as the leading publicly traded company, surpassing not only Indonesia's domestic market but also Southeast Asia as a whole.
The CEO of the Year in Asia Pacific award was exclusively bestowed upon Jahja Setiaatmadja, the President Director of BCA. The Asian Banker's decision to bestow the CEO of the Year in Asia Pacific and Bank of the Year in Asia Pacific awards simultaneously reflects their recognition of the instrumental role played by strategic leadership in building a strong and sustainable organization.

In 2022, BCA's sustainable financing portfolio grew by 14.9% to $12.3 billion, contributing 25.4% to the total financing portfolio. This expansion demonstrates the bank's commitment to promoting sustainability and cultivating responsible financing practices towards the environment.
