Yogyakarta, March 13, 2023 - As a form of support to improve the welfare and health of the community, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) today inaugurated a clean water installation in Cilik Mountain Hamlet, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta.
Located on the slopes of the mountains on the border between Bantul Regency and Gunungkidul Regency, the availability of clean water is a problem for the residents of Cilik Mountain Hamlet. The geographical condition of the hilly area and the springs that are located far outside Cilik Mountain Hamlet, make this area vulnerable to water drought, especially during the dry season.
So far, the community has had to rely on their own dug wells, which usually dry up during the dry season, or rely on water distribution assistance from third-party donors using water tanks.
Recognizing this, BCA together with the Association of Bank Indonesia Retirees (PPBI) took an active step by helping to build a clean water installation. Starting construction in 2022, it is hoped that this installation can maintain the availability of clean water for 70 heads of families in Cilik Mountain Hamlet.
The inauguration was attended by Bantul Regent Abdul Halim Muslih, Head of Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta Representative Budiharto Setyawan, BCA Independent Commissioner Cyrillus Harinowo, PPBI Chairman Aslim Tadjuddin and BCA management in Bantul Regency, Monday (13/3).
"Clean water is a basic need that is very important to maintain the health and welfare of the community. For urban communities, the availability of clean water is commonplace. However, ironically, despite being only approximately 20 km from the city center of Yogyakarta, residents in Cilik Mountain Hamlet still experience difficulties in obtaining clean water every year, especially during the dry season. Therefore, BCA took the initiative to build a clean water installation to provide easier access for the local community," said BCA Independent Commissioner Cyrillus Harinowo.
Chairman of the Bank Indonesia Pensioners Association (PPBI) DR Aslim Tadjuddin said, "We hope that this clean water installation can be well utilized by the residents of Cilik Mountain Hamlet so that it can help improve their quality of life and maintain their health."
The construction of a clean water installation in Cilik Mountain Hamlet is one of Bakti BCA's activities. Previously, Bakti BCA helped build clean water installations in several areas, including Kidul Mountain Regency and Bogor Regency, West Java.
