BCA on Indonesia Fintech Education for Universitas Indonesia Students

Depok, 15 March 2017 - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) strengthens its commitment to the advancement of human resource quality. This time, BCA’s commitment is reflected through seminars for 600 students and alumni of University of Indonesia (UI), themed “ the Indonesia Fintech Education Seminar.”

The seminar was opened by Deputy President Director of BCA Armand W. Hartono, who also played role as one of the keynote speakers together with Executive Vice President of Strategic Information Technology Group BCA Hermawan Thendean and Senior Vice President of Strategic Information Technology Group BCA and CEO of Central Capital Ventura (CCV) Armand Widjaja in Depok. Also attending the seminar was Vice Rector of HR, Development and Cooperation Division Hamid Chalid, Director of Career Development and Alumni Relations UI Erwin Nurdin, Director of Student Affairs A.G Sudibyo, Executive Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility Inge Setiawati, and Senior Vice President of CSR Solution Development BCA Sapto Rachmadi.

Indonesian businesses cannot avoid the current effects of vast digital development. The role of technological innovation in business solutions plays an important role in efforts to generate added value to society, as well as the development of new occupations and promising careers, such as developer and application-based start up companies. As a national private bank, BCA shows its support for technological innovation through a series of events and discussions, as well as the integration of safe and convenient new technological innovations to support corporations’ commitment to provide the best possible services and added value to society. This commitment is reflected through educating the student of University of Indonesia,” said the Deputy President Director of BCA Armand W. Hartono.
The seminar received a warm welcome from both UI students and management. “We appreciate the management of BCA sharing their experience and knowledge with our students. It is very useful to improve soft skills and competence of UI students and graduates to keeping up with the fierce competition in the working world which is certainly influenced by financial technology trend,” said Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs UI Bambang Wibawarta.

The cooperation with UI was not the first for BCA. Previously, BCA held a seminar for 300 students and alumni of University of Indonesia, with the theme “Preparation for the Working World and Effective Communication” by presenting the President Director of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja. BCA also symbolically handed over the Rp 100 million endowment donation and Bakti BCA scholarship for students of year 2016-2017 in the amount of Rp 400 million. On the academic year of 2015-2016, BCA had submitted a scholarship worth of Rp 400 million to 33 select accomplished students, as well as the academic year of 2016-2017, where BCA donated a scholarship worth of Rp 400 million to 29 select accomplished students.

In the seminar, it was described how the banking and financial technology are complementary, which encouraged BCA to continuously making innovative products and services in line with the development of technology and customers’ needs.
