BCA Launches Teaching Factory: BCA Cash Management Academy’ Program

Jakarta, 1 August 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) and PT E- Science Indonesia (ESI) officially launched the BCA Cash Management Academy program, a Teaching Factory program that facilitates vocational schools (SMK) to produce graduates who are ready for any workplace, especially in ATM and cash management companies.

Attending the launching event was Deputy President Director of BCA Armand W. Hartono, Head of Vocational Alignment Section of the Directorate of Vocational Education Development of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Sulistio Mukti Cahyono, CEO of E-Science Indonesia Erick Hadi, Executive Vice President of Electronic Banking Service Center of BCA Joanes Justira Gunawan and Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility of BCA Rizali Zakaria on Thursday (01/08). Also attending the event was BCA partner cash and ATM management as well as SMK representatives from Bogor, Kuningan, Purwakarta, and Banjar Negara that were chosen for pilot projects.

The Teaching Factory program run by BCA is a program initiated by the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs to bridge the schools with the industry that share common field of skills. The program was set to train SMK students not only to be skilled and competent, but also to have positive attitude and mentality required by the industry.

“Since BCA is engaged in banking solution and services, we therefore participated in theTeaching Factory program in the field of Cash Management. We hope that SMK students would benefit from this program and their graduates are ready to work, especially in ATM and cash management companies,” explained Armand Hartono.

The BCA Cash Management Academy program is the first banking industry-based Teaching Factoryprogram. In this program, SMK will get supporting machine facilities such as  ATMs, cash recycling machines (CRM), and money counting machines. Class will be made similar to the operational conditions of cash and ATM managers. “The objective is to allow students to gain specific knowledge related to ATM and cash management so they can be ready to enter the workforce,” explained Armand. 

The program will then be developed as curriculum for the learning process of the students, namely Cash Management Academy, a three-month curriculum. Program participants may also get an opportunity to apply for internship at ATM and cash management of BCA partner companies for six months. This will allow students to experience firsthand the actual working conditions in ATM and cash management. Students will also learn about financial planning and nationalism that might be valuable for them in the future.

“The global challenges faced by BCA today has encourage the bank to focus on sustainable human resource development in all segments. Through the teaching factory program, we hope to be able to produce excellent people as qualified next generation,” explained Armand.
