Samarinda, 16 March 2019 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is always committed to improving the quality of human resources through education. Under the CSR Bakti BCA program, this commitment is implemented through a seminar themed “Facing the Working World with Success” for approximately 250 students of Mulawarman University.
The seminar was opened by Deputy Rector II of Students and Alumni Affairs of Mulawarman University Encik Ahmad Syaifudin and also featured the Founder of KM Plus & Principal Consultant Alvin Soleh as a keynote speaker. Also attending the event was KPBC KCU BCA Samarinda Hendrik, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of BCA Rizali Zakaria, and the management of BCA in Samarinda, Saturday (16/03).
Every year, Indonesian students graduate from all universities and majors and enter the workforce. They certainly need to be prepared in terms of knowledge, insight, and experience in order to reduce undergraduate unemployment in Indonesia. According to data from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, approximately 8.8% of the total 7 million unemployed in Indonesia is undergraduates.
KPBC KCU BCA Samarinda Hendrik said that it is essential to support students’ emotional and character development early to help them enter and thrive in the working world. To achieve a successful career, not only do they need hard skills, but also soft skills.Understanding this, BCA organizes a seminar at Mulawarman University to shape awareness for students in facing the working world.
BCA also sees the importance of self-improvement. Therefore, BCA continues to develop strategies manifested in training and development programs that are divided into three categories, namely Class Session, Digital Learning, and Career Development.
In addition to initiating several public lectures, BCA also routinely conducts training programs for students in several universities all across the nation to hone their skills and ensure their readiness to enter the workforce. BCA, through its CSR Bakti BCA program, also provides scholarships, which now has entered its 18th year. It was recorded that in 2018, the funds allocated for the Bakti BCA Scholarships amounting to Rp4.95 billion and channelled to 16 public universities, with 636 grantees for the 2017/2018 academic year and 629 grantees for the 2018/2019 academic year.
“In today’s intense global competition, students need to optimize their strengths and competencies based on their interests. Through the CSR Bakti BCA programs, we want to build a competent and smart generation. We hope that through the seminar we initiated this time, we can produce new talents that will soon become the leaders in the future,” Hendrik concluded.
Besides Mulawarman University, the CSR Bakti BCA will also hold seminars and public lectures in various universities including Padjadjaran University, Udayana University, Brawijaya University, Sam Ratulangi University, and University of Indonesia.
