Jakarta, September 14, 2021 – The development of the digital world is increasingly diverse and has targeted various fields, one of which is sports. Esports or what may be familiarly known as online game tournaments has now become one of the recognized sports in Indonesia. Seeing this momentum, the government also organized the Esports President’s Cup, which is now in its third year. As part of national banking system, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA) also supported the organization of the tournament.
This year, the government is ready to host the event which is marked by an opening ceremony attended by the retired General of the Military DR. H. Moeldoko, S.I.P. – Presidential Chief of Staff Republic of Indonesia, DR. Raden Isnanta, M.Pd - Deputy of Sport Culture, Gatot Hendrarto - Assistant Deputy of Sports Achievement Improvement, Sartin Hia - Assitant Deputy of Creative Economy Development, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Rizki Handayani Mustafa, Mbtm - Deputy for Tourism Products and Events, Muhammad Neil El Himam, M.Sc - Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, B.Sc - Director General of Informatics Applications, Tb Ade Lukman - Secretary General of Indonesian National Sports Committee, Hartman Harris - Head of Competition Division of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board, BCA Director Santoso and BCA EVP of Transaction Banking Business Development I Ketut Alam Wangsawijaya on Tuesday (14/09) virtually. This esports competition will be held from 3 October.
“BCA supports the 2021 Esports President’s Cup event, which becomes a level up momentum for all esports athletes in Indonesia. Hopefully this activity can provide positive spirits for youth, in strengthening the values of sportsmanship and motivating the young generations to be more involved in the improvement of the creative economy in Indonesia," said Santoso.
The event of the 2021 Esports President’s Cup this year carries the theme #ProudEsportsIndonesia and involves various institutions in Indonesia, i.e. the The Executive Office of the President (KSP), the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Republic of Indonesia, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Tourism and the Creative Economy, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, as well as the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) and PB Esports Indonesia (PBESI).
Santoso emphasized that in the midst of current conditions, collaborations are crucial in order to help the growth of the esports ecosystem in Indonesia. This is also one of the reasons that made BCA take part in organizing this competition.
“We hope that through this event we can produce and further improve Indonesia's digital young talents in competitions and we are certain that we can spur the spirit of esports lovers to make this nation proud, which is expected to represent Indonesia in international esports events. Hopefully, in this third year the event can run well and attract many participants,'' closed Santoso.
