Jakarta, 6 March 2021 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) encourages customers who hold BCA ATM cards or BCA Passport cards to change to chip-based ATM cards before December 31, 2021. This is done to minimize crime in banking transactions.
Don't hesitate to change your BCA ATM card or BCA Passport card to a chip-based ATM card. Here are three reasons you should immediately switch to a chip-based card:
- Bank Indonesia Requires Chip Cards
Since 2015 Bank Indonesia has launched the implementation of the National Standard for Chip Technology and the use of 6 Digit PIN for ATM/Debit Cards issued in Indonesia. Therefore, it is mandatory to change to a chip BCA Passport card so that you do not encounter any difficulties when you want to transact at banks or merchants who have replaced their EDC machines. - Reduce the Risk of Card Crime
Currently, there are many crimes that occur with the mode of data theft through magnetic strips on cards or skimming. Data on magnetic strips is technologically easier to copy when compared to more technologically advanced chip cards. Therefore, changing your Passport BCA card to one with a chip will increase security when doing banking transactions. - Chip Debit Cards Have More Advantages
Not only can you make transactions at ATMs and EDC machines, you can also take advantage of the Online Debit transaction facility if you use a chip BCA Mastercard Debit Card. The customer must activate the Debit Online feature via BCA mobile first. After that, customers can freely use it for various needs, including paying for online shopping, subscribing to streaming music/movies, and buying game vouchers on various platforms that provide payment by mastercard.
From these three reasons, it is clear that it is important to change the card to the chip BCA Passport immediately. Regarding card exchange, customers can do it at nearly 900 CS Digital BCA machines spread throughout Indonesia or at BCA branch offices. For information, as of December 2020, the number of BCA Debit Cards was recorded at around 22.5 million, of which around 18.5 million (about 80%) were already using chips.
“BCA's main priority is to provide customer convenience and security in transactions. For this reason, we encourage BCA customers in Indonesia to immediately replace their ATM cards with chip-based ATM cards before December 31, 2021. We hope that this card replacement can achieve optimal results this year, " said Santoso, Director of BCA.
