Padang, 12 May 2020 – In effort of combating Covid-19 in Indonesia, PT Bank Central Indonesia Tbk (BCA) is committed to continuing to support efforts to address and mitigate the spread. BCA realizes its commitment by donating medical equipments to a number of independent institutions. This time, BCA, through the Bakti BCA, provided protection for frontline responders of the Covid-19 in Padang.
These personal protective equipments include surgical masks, N95 masks, gloves, surgical gowns and coverall, directly submitted by the Head of BCA KCU Padang Robert Siahaan to representatives of Andalas University, which then handed over to the Director and Chairman of Covid Laboratory of RS Universitas Andalas Dani, Tuesday (12/05).
“We note that each party, in their own capacities, plays a crucial role in the effort of combating Covid-19 outbreak. As one of the financial institutions in Indonesia, BCA plays its part by donating protective equipments to healthcare workers as frontline responders. Therefore, today we are handing over this donation to the municipality of Padang. In the future, we will also distribute cloth face masks produced by local SMEs. We strive to distribute aid evenly throughout Indonesia. This serves as a testament of our commitment in helping the government’s efforts to combat Covid-19,” said Robert.
EVP CSR BCA Inge Setiawati added that BCA has always been consistent in providing pandemic-related aid. "Since last March, BCA has been consistently distributing aid to various parties in effort to assist the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia. A number of ventilators and other medical equipments had been donated to several hospitals including RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, RSUPN Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo, RS Eka Hospital BSD and RS St. Carolus Jakarta. Previously, BCA had also made a donation through crowd funding BenihBaik.com. As of now, BCA has donated almost Rp13 billion for Covid-19 mitigation measures,” added Inge.
“We hope that the aid we provide can contribute to the efforts of our healthcare workers in handling Covid-19 patients in Padang. We always pray for the health of our healthcare workers and the patients. Let’s break the chain of Coronavirus spread by implementing government order such as social & physical distancing, work from home, and so on,” concluded Inge.
