Beware of Transfer Scams to Virtual Accounts Using Phishing Pages!

Lately, fraud has been on the rise, particularly targeting individuals purchasing flight tickets. One common tactic involves victims who, after buying a ticket that does not include baggage, attempt to reach out to the airline’s call center.

The chronology is as follows:

  1. The victim ordered a plane ticket online.
  2. Then, they looked up the airline’s Call Center number on Google to buy luggage.
  3. Unfortunately, the number they contacted turned out to be a fake Call Center set up by scammers. The victim was directed to buy baggage through a link that would be provided.
  4. The victim was then contacted via WhatsApp and given a fraudulent link ( for example, https://Layananbantuan.com). They were guided to select the baggage option and then choose KlikBCA for payment.
  5. Unbeknownst to the victim, instead of completing a legitimate baggage booking, they were instructed to input their secret code, specifically the application code from the KeyBCA token, multiple times at the link. Meanwhile, the scammers were making transfers to their own Virtual Account.
  6. It was only after this that the victim realized several fund transfer transactions had occurred in their KlikBCA account, resulting in a drained balance.

It’s really a shame that we have to deal with this, but it’s super important for BCA customers to stay on guard against all sorts of social engineering scams. This includes things like fake customer service numbers, accounts, and deceptive links or pages. Always prioritize confidentiality or your personal banking information. Never share any details, including your KeyBCA token appli code.

Safety Tips:

  • Always check the authenticity of call center numbers. A good practice is to visit the official BCA website for verification.
  • Be cautious and do not click on links indiscriminately.
  • Keep personal banking information secure by protecting your passwords, PINs, OTP codes, and KeyBCA Appli codes in KlikBCA.
  • If you come across any suspicious contacts, links, or pages related to BCA, immediately reach out to Halo BCA at 1500888, through the haloBCA app, or visit the nearest BCA branch.

Let’s all stay tuned to the kinds of fraud that can happen. To keep up with the latest scams in banking, make sure to check out bca.id/awasmodus regularly!
