Automatic Travel Accident Insurance

Personal travel accident insurance is a facility provided automatically for BCA credit cardholders, who purchase tickets for land, water, or air transport for domestic and international travel that includes coverage for:

  • Travel Accident
  • Overseas Medical Reimbursement

Terms and Conditions

  • Valid for primary and additional cardholders 
  • Valid for one (1) spouse and a maximum of three (3) legitimate biological children aged between 3 months up to 23 years old 
  • Riding as a passenger on a licensed commercial common carrier – land, water, or air – both at home and abroad 
  • The insurance claim process will be handled by PT. Asuransi Umum BCA (BCAInsurance)

The Insured Person can obtain two (2) types of insurance/coverage from travel insurance, namely:

  • Travel Accident

     

    In the event of an accident sustained by the Insured Person during a trip to/from the place of departure and destination (as stated in the ticket), the Insurer will pay a benefit according to the Schedule of Benefits below, on condition that the accident occurs while the Insured Person riding as a passenger of any licensed commercial carrier, not as a pilot or crew member. Specifically for air travel, this insurance or coverage includes accidents sustained by the Insured Person that occur at an airport, during a trip to and from the airport using a common carrier or private vehicle.

The Insurer’s liability for each accident sustained by the Insured Person will not exceed the amount as stated in the Sum Insured Table of Benefits, but coverage in respect of any accident on a common carrier shall not exceed Rp10,000,000,000 (ten billion rupiah) for each type of BCA Credit Cards and shall not exceed Rp40,000,000,000 (forty billion rupiah) for all BCA Credit Cards.

Should the aggregate amount of all claims payable in one common carrier exceeds the amount mentioned above then the amount payable in respect of each Insured Person shall be proportionally reduced.

 

General Exclusions

This Policy does not cover any claim directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with:

  • Suicide or attempted suicide while sane or insane
  • The state of war
  • Military or air service duty in any country
  • Losses arising from acts of terrorism in any way
  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Acts of sabotage

Exclusions for travel accident insurance

This Policy does not cover any claim directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with:

  • Bodily injury suffered or sustained directly or indirectly due to unlawful acts committed by the Insured Person.
  • Medical condition or disease which existed before the accident.
  • The Insured person under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Disease

Disappearance

In the event of the disappearance of the Insured Person due to an event covered by this policy and has not been found within 12 calendar months after the Date of Accident, it will be presumed as Death, provided that the disappearance of the Insured Person has been announced by the authority accompanied by supporting evidence from the beneficiary of the Insured Person submitted to the Insurer. In respect of this, the Insurer will assume liability pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Policy.

  • Overseas Medical Costs*
    The Insurer shall indemnify the Insured Person for medical costs incurred by the Insured Person according to the usual, customary, and reasonable charges occurring during the trip abroad, which resulted from an accident or illness (pre-existing clause applies), with the Sum Insured as follows:

Sickness means somatic sickness or disease sustained by the Insured during the trip. This coverage provides reimbursement of incurred medical expenses for treatment or follow-up treatment after the Insured Person returns to Indonesia. Such coverage shall be provided if the Insured Person is hospitalized within 12 hours upon return to Indonesia, and it is a necessary follow-up medical treatment received by the Insured Person when treated abroad. Reimbursement for hospitalization in Indonesia is up to a maximum of 7 (seven) consecutive days or 5% of maximum amount of this benefit.

Medical Expense means the actual expenses incurred overseas within 30 (thirty) days since the Date of Accident or illness sustained by the Insured Person that have been paid in advance by the Insured Person to a licensed Physician, Hospital, or the costs of ambulance hire, surgery, x-ray, nurse fee or other necessary medical costs ordered by a licensed Physician.

If the Insured Person receives reimbursement for such Medical Expenses from another insurance company, the Insured Person is only entitled to the difference of such reimbursement received from the other insurance company.

 

Exclusions for overseas medical costs

The Insurer shall not be liable for medical expenses incurred:

  • at the time and after the Insured Person turns 70 years old.
  • when the Insured Person is traveling in contrary to the advice of a Physician.
  • if the Insured Person has pre-existing conditions, in which the signs or symptoms of that illness, ailment or condition existed at any time in the period of 12 (twelve) months prior to the scheduled trip and the Insured Person has received medical advice or underwent a medical treatment given by any medical practitioner.
  • to injuries occurring in connection with the primary or principal calling of the Insured Person in the oil and gas sector.
  • for the reimbursement of compensation from other insurance policies owned by the Insured Person.
  • after 60 (sixty) days from the date of the first medical expenses incurred.
  • for prostheses, contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dental equipment, and other medical equipment.
  • for regular medical treatment, cosmetic surgery, other special treatments, and surgeries.
  • for other dental and eye treatment expenses unless incurred due to an emergency.
  • for treatment due to AIDS or every bodily injury or illness resulting from or occurring at the time of initial testing positive for HIV, and AIDs related complex.


Payment of Claims

Claim for death benefits is payable to the designated heir or beneficiary of the Insured Person, meanwhile claims for disablement and medical expenses are payable to the Insured Person.

 

Notice of Claim and Product Information

Written notice of claim must be filed to the Claims Department of PT. Asuransi Umum BCA (BCAinsurance) by the Insured Person or the designated beneficiary immediately and in any event within 30 (thirty) days from the Date of Accident or illness sustained by the Insured Person. Claim for death benefits is payable to the designated heir or beneficiary of the Insured Person, meanwhile claims for disablement and medical expenses are payable to the Insured Person.

 

Notice of Claim and Product Information

Written notice of claim must be filed to the Claims Department of PT. Asuransi Umum BCA (BCAinsurance) by the Insured Person or the designated beneficiary immediately and in any event within 30 (thirty) days from the Date of Accident or illness sustained by the Insured Person. The Insured Person can obtain two (2) types of insurance/coverage and 7 (seven) types of additional coverages from travel insurance, namely:

  • Travel Accident
    In the event of an accident sustained by the Insured Person during a trip to/from the place of departure and destination (as stated in the ticket), the Insurer will pay a benefit according to the Schedule of Benefits below, on condition that the accident occurs while the Insured Person riding as a passenger of any licensed commercial carrier, not as a pilot or crew member. Specifically for air travel, this insurance or coverage includes accidents sustained by the Insured Person that occur at an airport, during a trip to and from the airport using a common carrier or private vehicle.

    Guarantee Sum Insured is IDR5,000,000,000 (five billion rupiah) per person, with an aggregate limit of IDR50,000,000,000 (fifty billion rupiah) per accident per transit passenger community for death and disability due to an accident.

The Insurer’s liability for each accident sustained by the Insured Person will not exceed the amount as stated in the Sum Insured Table of Benefits, but coverage in respect of any accident on a common carrier shall not exceed IDR10,000,000,000 (ten billion rupiah) for each type of BCA Credit Cards and shall not exceed IDR40,000,000,000 (forty billion rupiah) for all BCA Credit Cards.

Should the aggregate amount of all claims payable in one common carrier exceeds the amount mentioned above then the amount payable in respect of each Insured Person shall be proportionally reduced.

General Exclusions
This Policy does not cover any claim directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with:

  1. suicide or attempted suicide while sane or insane 
  2. the state of war
  3. military or air service duty in any country 
  4. losses arising from acts of terrorism in any way
  5. pre-existing conditions 
  6. acts of sabotage

Exclusions for travel accident insurance
This Policy does not cover any claim directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with:

  1. bodily injury suffered or sustained directly or indirectly due to unlawful acts committed by the Insured Person.
  2. medical condition or disease which existed before the accident.
  3. the Insured person under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  4. disease

Disappearance
In the event of the disappearance of the Insured Person due to an event covered by this policy and has not been found within 12 calendar months after the Date of Accident, it will be presumed as Death, provided that the disappearance of the Insured Person has been announced by the authority accompanied by supporting evidence from the beneficiary of the Insured Person submitted to the Insurer. In respect of this, the Insurer will assume liability pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Policy.

  • Overseas Medical Costs*
    The Insurer shall indemnify the Insured Person for medical costs incurred by the Insured Person according to the usual, customary, and reasonable charges occurring during the trip abroad, which resulted from an accident or illness (pre-existing clause applies), with the Sum Insured of IDR150,000,000 (one hundred fifty million rupiah) per person and an aggregate limit of IDR300,000,000 (three hundred million rupiah) per family for overseas medical expenses due to accidents and illness.

    “Illness” refers to any sickness or disease contracted and occurring during the Insured's travel. This coverage includes reimbursement for medical expenses incurred for continued treatment in Indonesia after the Insured returns from abroad. This coverage applies if the Insured is admitted to a hospital within 12 (twelve) hours of arrival in Indonesia, and the treatment must be a continuation of the care received while the Insured was hospitalized abroad. Reimbursement for hospital treatment in Indonesia is limited to a maximum of 7 (seven) consecutive days or 5% of the maximum benefit, whichever is less.

    "Medical Expenses" refers to all costs incurred abroad within 30 (thirty) days from the date the Insured suffers an accident or illness, and that have been paid in advance by the Insured to a licensed medical practitioner, hospital, ambulance service, surgical provider, for x-rays, nursing care, or any other medically necessary treatments as prescribed by a certified doctor.
    If the Insured Person receives reimbursement for such Medical Expenses from another insurance company, the Insured Person is only entitled to the difference of such reimbursement received from the other insurance company.

Exclusions for overseas medical costs
The Insurer shall not be liable for medical expenses incurred:

  1. at the time and after the Insured Person turns 70 years old.
  2. when the Insured Person is traveling in contrary to the advice of a Physician.
  3. if the Insured Person has pre-existing conditions, in which the signs or symptoms of that illness, ailment or condition existed at any time in the period of 12 (twelve) months prior to the scheduled trip and the Insured Person has received medical advice or underwent a medical treatment given by any medical practitioner.
  4. to injuries occurring in connection with the primary or principal calling of the Insured Person in the oil and gas sector.
  5. for the reimbursement of compensation from other insurance policies owned by the Insured Person.
  6. after 60 (sixty) days from the date of the first medical expenses incurred.
  7. for prostheses, contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dental equipment, and other medical equipment.
  8. for regular medical treatment, cosmetic surgery, other special treatments, and surgeries.
  9. for other dental and eye treatment expenses unless incurred due to an emergency.
  10. for treatment due to AIDS or every bodily injury or illness resulting from or occurring at the time of initial testing positive for HIV, and AIDs related complex.

Additional Coverage

  1. Travel Delay
    If the scheduled public transportation to be used by the Insured during the trip is delayed due to a strike or industrial action, adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdown, or structural defects of the public transportation, the Insurer will compensate the Insured based on the following benefit:
    IDR 5,000,000 for every 4-hour delay per person, with a maximum family limit of IDR 10,000,000 (for Amex Cardholders).
    Note: The delay is calculated from the scheduled departure time stated in the travel itinerary.
    Exclusions for Travel Delay
    No benefit will be paid for delays:
    1. That occur because the Insured failed to check in according to the schedule provided, or if the Insured does not obtain written confirmation from the airline or its agent regarding the length and cause of the delay.
    2. Caused by a strike or industrial action that was already in existence at the time the trip was planned.
  1. Loss / Damage to Baggage
    The Insurer will compensate the Insured for the loss of or damage to personal baggage carried or purchased, including clothing and personal items used or carried by the Insured in suitcases, bags, etc., up to the following limits:
    Maximum of IDR 10,000,000 per person or maximum of IDR 20,000,000 per family.
    All items must be the personal property of the Insured, and must not be rented, borrowed, or entrusted to others.
    If the Insured's baggage is proven to be uneconomical to repair, the claim will be processed under this Policy as if the item were lost.
    In the event of loss or damage to insured property that is part of a pair or set, the Insurer’s liability shall not exceed the proportionate value of the individual item within the pair or set.
    Losses must be reported immediately to the police or to relevant authorities such as hotel management or the transportation company with jurisdiction at the location of the loss. Every claim must be supported by written documentation from such authorities.
    The Insured must take all necessary steps to ensure that their baggage or personal belongings:
    1. are not left unattended in public areas, and
    2. all reasonable precautions are taken to safeguard personal property and baggage.

Exclusions for Loss/Damage to Baggage
No compensation will be provided for:

  1. Animals, motor vehicles (including accessories), motorcycles, boats, machinery, other vehicles, snow ski equipment, fruits, perishable goods and food, household appliances, antiques, artifacts, paintings, artworks, computers (including handheld devices, software, and accessories), manuscripts, jewelry, gemstones, watches, mobile phones, contact lenses or corneal lenses, securities, souvenirs, musical instruments, dental bridges, dentures, and golf equipment.
  2. Loss or damage due to wear and tear, gradual deterioration, moths, insects, inherent defect or flaw, or damage incurred during processing or repair.
  3. Loss or damage to rented equipment; and loss or damage to property arising directly or indirectly from riot, rebellion, revolution, civil war, seizure of power, or actions by government authorities to prevent, resist, or combat such events; confiscation or destruction under quarantine or customs regulations; seizure by government or public authorities; or risks involving smuggling, illegal transport, or illicit trade.
  4. Loss or damage to items already insured under another insurance policy; or items that will be reimbursed by another carrier, hotel, or third party.
  5. Loss or damage to baggage that was sent in advance, mailed, or shipped separately.
  6. Loss or damage to baggage left unattended in public areas.
  7. Loss or damage resulting from the Insured’s negligence in safeguarding and protecting their belongings.
  8. Loss or damage to business items, product samples, or any type of equipment.
  9. Loss or damage to data stored on tapes, cards, disks, or other media.
  10. Loss or damage to cash, banknotes, bonds, coupons, stamps, negotiable instruments, land certificates, manuscripts, any type of securities, credit card loss or replacement, identity cards, driver’s licenses, or travel documents.
  11. Mysterious or unexplained disappearance.
  1. Baggage Delay
    The Insurer will compensate the beneficiary based on the following benefit: IDR 5,000,000 for every 4-hour delay per person, with a maximum family limit of IDR 10,000,000, if the checked baggage accompanying the Insured is delayed, misdirected, or temporarily misplaced by the carrier for each full time period specified in the Certificate of Insurance/Policy Summary, after the Insured has arrived at the baggage claim area at the scheduled destination listed in the Certificate of Insurance/Policy Summary. This benefit does not apply if the baggage delay occurs upon the Insured’s return to their home country or city.
  1. Missed Flight Connection
    In the event that the Insured, who has a confirmed onward journey while abroad, misses a connecting transfer point due to a delay in the arrival of the scheduled transportation previously used by the Insured, and there is no alternative scheduled transportation available, the Insurer will compensate the beneficiary with the insured amount as follows: IDR 5,000,000 for every 4-hour delay per person, with a maximum family limit of IDR 10,000,000.
  1. Trip Cancellation
    If the trip is cancelled due to any of the following reasons occurring within 30 (thirty) calendar days (except for item (c)) prior to the scheduled departure date of the trip:
    1. Death, serious injury, serious illness, or mandatory quarantine of the Insured or the Insured's Immediate Family Member;
    2. Unexpected strike, riot, or civil commotion beyond the Insured's control at the planned destination;
    3. Severe damage to the Insured’s primary residence due to fire, flood, or similar natural disasters (typhoon, earthquake, etc.) occurring within 7 (seven) calendar days before the departure date, requiring the Insured to be present at the location on the date of departure;
    4. The Insured being summoned for witness duty or jury service.

The Insurer will reimburse losses incurred up to the limit specified in the Certificate of Insurance/Policy Summary for travel and/or accommodation expenses that:

  1. Have been paid in advance by the Insured; and
  2. Are legally the Insured’s responsibility; and
  3. Are non-refundable from any other source.
  1. Purchase Protection
    This coverage applies when a third party causes the Insured to suffer a financial loss due to the purchase of goods either abroad or domestically. The Insurer will provide compensation in the form of repair or replacement costs for the item, which will be paid to the beneficiary based on the following coverage limit:
    IDR 15,000,000 per item, with a maximum aggregate limit per public transport passenger per incident of IDR 30,000,000.
    General Exclusions
    This policy does not cover any loss caused by or resulting from:
    1. Suicide or any attempted threat thereof by the Insured, whether sane or insane;
    2. War;
    3. Military service or air service for any country;
    4. Any loss arising as a result of terrorist acts;
    5. Any pre-existing conditions;
    6. Sabotage;
    7. COVID-19 and its mutations and variants, SARS-CoV-2 and its mutations and variants, and all current fears and threats related to them;
    8. No coverage for natural death (i.e., death not caused by an accident such as a heart attack is excluded).
  1. Personal Cyber Insurance
    Covers various cybercrimes including direct financial loss and expenses resulting from cyberattacks.
    1. Online Shopping
      Coverage is provided for the following insured events:
      • Non-Delivery of Goods
        Non-delivery is considered to have occurred if the goods purchased and paid for online by the Insured have not been delivered to the agreed delivery address within four weeks from the agreed delivery date with the Seller or as reasonably expected at the time of purchase.
      • Non-Performance of Services
        Non-performance is considered to have occurred if the services purchased and paid for by the Insured are not provided within the timeframe specified in the online purchase contract or within a reasonable period thereafter as agreed with the service provider.
      • Incorrect Delivery of Goods
        Incorrect delivery is considered to have occurred if the goods delivered to the Insured are not the goods purchased under the online purchase contract. This also applies in cases where the goods are materially damaged or partially delivered.
    2. Internet Payment Transactions
      Section B coverage applies if a third party causes financial loss to the Insured through unauthorized online fund transfers from the Insured’s personal online bank account (including banking and payment applications such as e-wallets), or from the Insured's credit or debit card.
      Methods a third party may use to access the Insured’s funds include, but are not limited to:
      1. Phishing and Social Engineering
        Accessing the Insured’s banking, credit or debit card login/identification information or misleading the Insured into conducting online transactions through fake emails, websites, or targeted manipulation (e.g., using fake identities or impersonating legitimate systems or organizations).
      2. Pharming
        Simulating the Insured’s banking, credit or debit card website or app to redirect the Insured’s request to a fraudulent website, leading the Insured to make a payment transaction under the false belief that the site is genuine.
      3. Keylogging or Banking Trojans
        Accessing the Insured’s banking, credit or debit card login/identification information via malware on the Insured’s computer, tablet, or smartphone, or through other malicious Internet activities targeted at the Insured, and making unauthorized online transactions using that information.
    3. Online Identity Theft Administration Costs
      This coverage applies if the Insured becomes a victim of Online Identity Theft. Online Identity Theft refers to the unauthorized transfer or use of the Insured’s personal information via the Internet, which can be legally identified as a violation by a third party. If a covered event occurs, the Insurer will reimburse:
      1. The cost of creating and notarizing documents related to the Insured’s personal identity required to notify and/or correct records with law enforcement, financial institutions, credit agencies, or similar bodies;
      2. Postage costs for sending the documents mentioned in point 1 above;
      3. Lost income due to taking time off work to complete written statements, meet with legal advisors, law enforcement, financial institutions, credit agencies, or similar entities in connection with notifications or corrections to personal identity or financial records, or in resolving Online Identity Theft, up to IDR 1,500,000 per day for a maximum of 3 calendar days;
      4. Loan application fees incurred in reapplying for a loan that was rejected solely due to the lender’s reliance on compromised credit information resulting from Identity Theft; and
      5. Credit card or banking fees charged by the Insured’s financial institution for canceling and/or reissuing cards and/or bank accounts.

Coverage Conditions

  1. Online Shopping
    1. Non-Delivery of Goods
      Covered up to the purchase price (including shipping costs, but excluding applicable taxes and duties).
    2. Non-Performance of Services
      Covered up to the service price (excluding applicable taxes and duties).
    3. Incorrect Delivery of Goods
      Damaged items → Repair costs up to the purchase price
      Partial delivery → Purchase price of undelivered items
      Wrong items → Purchase price of the item (subject to applicable remaining terms)
  1. Internet Payment Transactions
    • The financial loss related to identity theft must have occurred online or via the Internet.
    • The Insured must have made reasonable efforts to claim the financial loss from the affected bank or payment service provider.
  1. Online Identity Theft Administration Costs
    • The unauthorized use of stolen personal information must have occurred via the Internet.
    • The Insured must have made reasonable efforts to claim the financial loss from the affected bank or payment service provider.

Exclusions

  1. Online Shopping
    1. Purchases of financial instruments or negotiable instruments including but not limited to cash, checks (traveler's), digital payment tools such as cryptocurrency, collector coins, precious metals, stamps, stocks, bonds, and promissory notes.
    2. Purchases related to the provision of electricity, gas, or water.
    3. Purchases involving goods already damaged at the time of purchase.
    4. Internet access and telecommunication services, including but not limited to online purchases such as phone credits, internet data, Wi-Fi, cable TV services, etc.
    5. Purchases related to medicines, pharmaceuticals, perishable goods, plants, and animals.
    6. Purchases involving weapons and items/services obtained illegally or unlawfully.
    7. Purchases for commercial purposes.
    8. Purchases involving goods the Insured reasonably suspected were fake or counterfeit at the time of purchase.
    9. Purchases related to real estate including but not limited to houses, apartments, and land.
    10. Purchases made through the "dark web" and/or using special access software.
    11. Purchases of software licenses or copyrights.
    12. Loss of profits, interest, or legal fees.
    13. Gambling or betting agreements.
    14. Seizure, detention, or destruction by customs, police, or other government authorities.
    15. Cash On Delivery (COD) transactions.
  1. Internet Payment Transactions
    1. Financial losses arising in connection with online buying and selling conducted by the Insured.
    2. Financial losses related to identity fraud that did not occur on the Internet.
    3. Loss or damage caused by the Insured’s deliberate or fraudulent acts.
    4. Consequential losses (e.g., lost profits, lost interest, legal process costs).
    5. Unauthorized login use related to online games, betting, or virtual monetary units such as cryptocurrency.
    6. Unauthorized login use for bank accounts, custodian accounts, credit cards, or other virtual accounts (e.g., e-wallets) registered outside Indonesia.
  1. Online Identity Theft Administration Costs
    Apart from the benefits listed under this coverage section, it does not cover any financial losses suffered by the Insured.
