Padang, October 4, 2024 - Pojok UMKM BCA has garnered positive responses from various stakeholders for the positive impact it has brought. Since its inauguration in January 2024, this program has been successfully participated in by 56 local MSMEs and managed to book transactions amounting to Rp151,841,500.
Pojok UMKM BCA is a corporate initiative to expand market access for local MSMEs as well as a promotional platform for customers and the wider community. In addition to opening outlets, Pojok UMKM BCA also conducts a number of training sessions to strengthen the quality of products made by MSMEs. West Sumatra is the first province to run the Pojok UMKM BCA.
Head of KCU BCA Padang Robert Siahaan said, “Since its opening in January, Pojok UMKM BCA at KCU Padang has continued to attract customer interest. While doing banking transactions, customers can also purchase the MSME products on offer. We are pleased that this initiative is not only beneficial for MSME entrepreneurs but also provides a pleasant experience for our customers.”
Over the course of six months, BCA worked with businesses to curate the products showcased in Pojok UMKM BCA, ranging from food, beverages, to handicrafts. There are 30 local brands on display each month and these are regularly replaced with other MSME products from Padang and surrounding areas. This is to provide equal opportunities among businesses and present diverse and quality choices to potential buyers.
To ensure smooth transactions and encourage digital banking education for customers, BCA provides payment access in the form of QRIS for every transaction. This initiative has been well received by MSMEs and customers, resulting in high adoption of QRIS at Pojok UMKM.
In addition to providing a platform and access to promotion, BCA's commitment to advancing the people's economy is also demonstrated by training business actors. Some of the training provided included packaging training with the Indonesia Design Development Center (IDDC) from the Ministry of Trade, and self-declare halal certificates to make MSME products suitable for export. The overall support program for MSMEs implemented in KCU Padang also received appreciation from the West Sumatra Provincial Government and Bank Indonesia West Sumatra.
Prisca Maria Pratana, a business representative at Pojok UMKM BCA said, “We are grateful to BCA for inviting us to take part in Pojok UMKM BCA. This is an honor for Lile Chocolate. Not only are we given space to sell our products, we also receive training that helps us produce quality products that are in demand by the public.”
Pojok UMKM BCA program is part of the 'Bakti BCA' CSR program, which aims to develop people's businesses or MSMEs to develop independently. BCA has undertaken various initiatives, including facilitating the issuance of 1000 halal certificates by the end of 2023. This program will continue until 2024 with a target of issuing 2000 certificates to MSMEs throughout Indonesia. BCA also provides export preparation training to 60 MSMEs spread across Indonesia until September 2024. In addition, BCA has fostered 15 BCA Bakti Villages spread across various provinces. BCA's commitment is also reflected in the growth of its MSME lending, which increased by 12.7% YoY to Rp114.4 trillion.
“We are very pleased with the response of customers and businesses to Pojok UMKM BCA in Padang. This program is a tangible form of BCA's commitment to support people-owned businesses. We hope that Pojok UMKM BCA outlets can soon be presented in other branches, so that MSME players in other regions can get the same access and opportunities to develop their businesses,” said Freddy Iman EVP Commercial and SME BCA.
