Jakarta, 2 October 2024 - One of the office buildings of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), Wisma BCA Foresta, has received the Green Mark Super Low Energy Building certificate from the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore. This certification was awarded due to Wisma BCA Foresta's success in achieving outstanding efficiency in its building operations. Wisma BCA Foresta is the first building in Indonesia to receive the Green Mark Super Low Energy Building certification, based on international Green Mark criteria.
The certificate was awarded by the Building and Construction Authority and received by BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma on Wednesday (2/10). Wisma BCA Foresta achieved several efficiency parameters that contributed to earning the certification. One key parameter is the reduction of electrical energy use, achieving an efficiency level of over 60% compared to the standard equivalent building, based on Green Mark measures in Singapore. Additionally, Wisma BCA Foresta meets sustainability standards by fostering a green ecosystem from the planning, design, and construction stages to maintenance, which directly impact the building's energy use.
BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma said, “BCA is proud to receive this certificate, as it reflects the company's hard work in supporting sustainability efforts across all aspects of business operations. Despite its young age, Wisma BCA Foresta has already won several awards, and this motivates us to continue our commitment to ESG values.”
To support efforts to reduce the carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency, Frengky added, the green building is designed to minimize energy use. This is achieved through the application of a Building Automation System, Chiller Plant Management System, air conditioning systems, and building envelope design and materials that maintain optimal temperature and humidity. The building is also equipped with a reverse osmosis drinking water system, the utilization of recycled water, and the use of rainwater runoff.
The installation of solar panels also supports the reduction of electricity use from fossil fuel sources, making it a comprehensive green building. All these technologies are managed by the Energy Management Team of BCA's Logistics and Building Division, which contributes to creating an energy-efficient building.
Wisma BCA Foresta also provides public facilities, one of which is a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) for the community. Unsurprisingly, since its inauguration three years ago, the building has gained recognition and appreciation from various parties. Wisma BCA Foresta was named the Winner at the ASEAN Energy Awards 2023 in the Energy Efficient Building category, subcategory New and Existing Building. The building also ranked first in the Energy Efficient Building category, subcategory New Building, at the 2022 Subroto Award for Energy Efficiency (PSBE). Additionally, Wisma BCA Foresta obtained a platinum-level Greenship building certificate from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) in the Existing Building category in 2021.
In line with the achievements of Wisma BCA Foresta, BCA's loan disbursements to sustainable sectors also continued to grow. As of June 2024, loans to the sustainable sector grew by 9.3% year-on-year (YoY) to Rp198 trillion. This amount contributed approximately 23.2% to BCA's total financing portfolio.
